HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 1412/81THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING -law Number 1412 Being a By-law to amend By-law 740/77 respecting plumbing works within the Town of Pickering. Whereas By-law 740/77 enacted on December 19, 1977, providing for the regulating of plumbing works within the Town of Pickering and the issuance of permits therefor; and Whereas it is deemed expedient to increase the permit fees for plumbing permits issued pursuant to By-law 740/77; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION of the Town of Picker- ing hereby enacts as follows: 1. Section 4 of By-law 740/77 is hereby deleted and the follow- ing substituted therefor: PERMIT FEES 4. The following permit fees shall be payable prior to, and as a condition of the issuance of a plumbing permit for new installations, alterations and additions: (1) Single family dwelling $15.00 plus $6.00 per fixture; (2) Store or stores, with $20.00 per store, $15.00 attached living per living quarter plus quarters $6.00 per fixture; (3) Semi-detached, $15.00 per unit or suite duplexes, multiple plus $6.00 per fixture; family dwellings, apartment buildings, hotels and motels (4) All other buildings $20.00 per each self- not provided for above contained unit plus $6.00 per fixture; (5) The addition of new $20.00 for up to the fixtures, or alter- first 2 fixtures, plus ation to the vent or $6.00 per each addit- waste pipes of exist- ional fixture; ing fixtures (6) Alteration of or addit- $20.00 ion to water pipe or any other plumbing, whereby a fixture fee does not pertain (7) Changeover from septic $15.00 plus $6.00 per tank to building sewer each additional fixture altered or installed at this time; -2- (8) Water heating tanks, $6.00, if included with to alter or install a permit for a new installation or addition, otherwise $15.00 (9) Water service; to install or alter from street line to building a) Domestic $6.00 if included with a permit for a new installation or addition, otherwise $15.00; b) Commercial, $15.00 up to 2 inches or industrial and 50mm in diameter; all other install- $25.00 over 2 inches or ations not con- 50mm in diameter sidered domestic (10) install or alter $6.00 for each indirect trap; (11) Swimming pools if $20.00 connected to a sewer system or domestic water system (12) Fixture fees shall be paid for the following: a) Each vented waste outlet that is provided, whether or not the fixture is installed; b) Laundromat, each; c) Dishwashers, washing machines, water softeners or any other equipment provided with a separate waste outlet or connected to a water supply, each; d) Floor drains, vented and class 4, each; e) Rain water leaders, each; f) Laboratory sinks, each; (13) Drains: to install a building drain, build- ing sewer, building storm sewer or any branch thereof serv- ing a self-contained unit or units; for each size of pipe used in each drain, sewer or branch thereof $5.00 per each inch or 25mm in diameter for each size of pipe used for each drain, sewer or branch thereof serving a self-contained unit or units; - 3 - (14) Drain alteration: to alter, extend, repair or renew a building drain, building storm drain, building sewer or building storm sewer, where- in less than 10 feet of pipe is laid $10.00. If more than 10 feet or 3m of pipe is laid the permit fee shall be calculated as per subsection (13) above; (15) Drain to septic tank Where a building drain is installed in a building with a walkout basement or a building with no basement and a con- crete slab for the first floor, and the building drain leads to a septic tank and is over 10 feet or 3 metres in length to the outer wall, a drain plan will be required and the permit fee shall be calculated as per clause (13) above; (16) Manholes, catch basins and interceptors $10.00 each. (17) Special inspection: a) Fees shall be at the rate of $25.00 per hour for inspection carried out between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and and 5:00 p.m. For special inspections carried out outside the above hours or on Saturday, Sunday or legal holidays the fees shall be at the rate of $40.00 per hour. A minimum of one hour will be charged for any special inspection. This shall apply whenever it is necessary to make more than three inspections on any one drain or plumbing job or when in the opinion of an Administrative Official it is necessary to have an inspector on the job as the work is being constructed; b) Special inspection fees shall be charged for building sewers, building drains, branches of same and water services over 100 lineal feet or 30 metres at the rate of 150 per lineal foot or 50¢ per metre; c) A deposit adequate to cover the cost of special inspections must be made prior to the time of the inspections; (18) Fees for renewal: To renew a permit, as provided in subsection (4) of section 3, the fee shall be $10.00; - 4 - (19) Fees for certificates of information: Upon written request from the owner, his authorized agent or a bona fide purchaser or his authorized agent, of an existing or partially constructed building, for infor- mation with regard to compliance of the premises with this or previously applicable related municipal by-laws, or with the Regulations, an Administrative Official shall advise accordingly. The fee for the above service shall be $15.00, payable prior to the release of the requested information.
