BY-LAW NUMBER 1606/82
Being a by-law to appoint persons to
various agencies, boards and committees.
WHEREAS pursuant to section 72(3) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O.
1980, c. 302, as amended, the council of any municipality may
by by-law appoint a member of the council to act from time to
time in the place and stead of the head of the council when
the head of the council is absent from the municipality or
absent through illness or his office is vacant and, while so
acting, such member has and may exercise all the rights,
powers and authority of the head of the council; and
WHEREAS pursuant to section 5(1) of the Public Libraries Act,
R.S.O. 1980, c. 414, as amended, the board of a public library
of an urban municipality having a population of 10,000 or more
shall be composed of the mayor and three members appointed by
the council, three members appointed by the public school board
or board of education having jurisdiction in the municipality,
and two members appointed by the separate school board for the
municipality; and
WHEREAS pursuant to section 75 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O.
1980, c. 302, as amended, the council of any municipality may
by by-law, passed with the written consent of the head of the
council, appoint a member of the council to act in the place
of the head of the council on the Town of Pickering Public
Library Board; and
WHEREAS the council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering
is required by certain provincial statutes to appoint persons
to certain local boards and committees; and
WHEREAS the council has established various local boards and
committees which require the appointment of persons thereto;
The following persons are hereby appointed Acting
Mayor:
(a) Councillor Robertson from December 1, 1982 to
November 30, 1983
(b) Councillor Cahill from December 1, 1983 to
November 30, 1984
(c) Councillor Stoner from December 1, 1984 to
November 30, 1985
The following persons are hereby appointed to the Joint
Animal Control Committee for a term to expire on
November 30, 1985:
(a) Councillor Mitchell (Member)
(b) Councillor Arthurs (Alternate Member)
(c) Mr. Bruce Taylor (Staff Adviser)

The following person is hereby appointed to the Social
Planning Council of Ajax/Picketing for a term to expire
on November 30, 1985:
(a) Councillor Mitchell
The following persons are hereby appointed to the
Promotions Committee for a term to expire on November
30, 1985:
(a) Councillor Mitchell
(b) Councillor Robertson
(c) Councillor Stoner
The following person is hereby appointed to the Ajax-
Pickering Hospital Board for a term to expire on
November 30, 1985:
(a) Mrs. Angela Costar
The following person is hereby appointed to the Commit-
tee of Adjustment for a term to expire on November 30,
1985:
(a) Mr. George Martin
The following persons are hereby appointed to the
Condominium Cormmittee for a term to

The written consent of the Mayor to the appointment

By-law.

- Appointment of Delegate to Represent the Mayor
Pursuant to Section 75 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980,
c. 302, as amended, I hereby consent to the passage of
By-law Number , appointing Councillor Wayne Arthurs
as a delegate to represent me on the Town of Pickering
Public Library Board, for the term commencing on the date
of the passing of By-law Number and expiring with
the day upon which either Councillor Arthurs or myself
ceases to hold our respective elected office.
