BY-LAW NUMBER 1726/83
Being a by-law to appoint a Municipal
Law Enforcement Officer pursuant to the
provisions of the Police Act
WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of section 75.1(b) of the
Regional Municipality of Durham Act, R.S.O. 1980, c. 434,
section 70 of the Police Act, R.S.O. 1980, Co 381, applies
to an area municipality within the Regional Municipality of
Durham; and
WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of section 70 of the
Police Act, the Council of any municipality may appoint one
or more Municipal Law Enforcement Officers who shall be peace
officers for the purpose of enforcing the by-laws of the
municipality;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering HEREBY ENACTS as follows:
From and after the 7th day of September, 1983,
Mr. John Wojnicz, of the Town of Ajax, in the
Regional Municipality of Durham, is hereby
appointed as a Municipal Law Enforcement
Officer, who shall be a Peace Officer, for
the purpose of enforcing the by-laws of the
Municipality of the Corporation of the Town
of Pickering.
BY-LAW READ a first, second and third time and finally PASSED
this 6th day of September, 1983.
