HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 1660/83THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 1660/83 Being a by-law to regulate the retail sale of goods on highways or on vacant lots adjacent to them. WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of section 210.66 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, chapter 302, by-laws may be passed by the councils of local municipalities for prohibiting sales by retail in the highways or vacant lots adjacent to them; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering HEREBY ENACTS as follows: 1. In this by-law, the term, (a) "highway" means a common and public highway, and includes a street and a bridge forming part of the highway passes; (b) "sell" includes expose for sale and offer for sale. No person shall sell by retail any goods, wares or merchandise including produce, of any nature and kind, in any highway or on any vacant lot adjacent to any highway. e This by-law is applicable to all highways within the boundaries of the Town of Pi~kering and to all vacant lots adjacent thereto and within the boundaries of the Town of Pickering. e Every person who contravenes any provision of this by-law is guilty of an offence, and upon conviction thereof, is liable to a fine of not more than $2,000.00, exclusive of costs.
