Home My WebLink AboutBy-law 2487/87THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 2487/87 Being a by-law to amend the Town of Pickering Municipal Code to levy such rates against all of the assessed properties in the Town of Pickerin9 as will be required to cover the 1987 requisitions from the Durham Board of Education and the Durham Region Roman Catholic School Board Whereas the Durham Board of Education and the Durham Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board have requisitioned the Council of the Town of Pickering for certain sums of money being the Town's share of 1987 operating and capital costs of various Elementary and Secondary Schools under their jurisdiction: Now Therefore the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering Hereby Enacts as follows: Sections 2210.9, 2210.12 and 2210.13 of the Town of Pickering Municipal Code are hereby deleted and the following substituted therefor: 2210.9 There shall be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the rateable property in the Town of Pickering the rates and sums set out in sections 2210.12 and 2210.13 to levy the 1987 requisition from the Durham Board of Education and the Durham Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board. 2210.12 RES. & FARM COMM. & IND. NOTE: APPORTIONMENT GUARANTEE The 1987 General Legislative Grant Regulations of The Ministry of Education permit the continued use of 1979 assessment equalization factors instead of the 1987 factors, and the Ministry provides funds to cover the shortfall in the apportionment of the net requirement. In 1987 this amount is $l,232,522. Discontinuance of the Guarantee will increase the apportionment percentages of all Municipalities, with the exception of Oshawa and Whitby (for which the 1987 factors have been used) and accordingly increase the net requisition required from each.
