HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 1950/85THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 1950/85 Being a by-law to amend the Town of Picketing Municipal Code to adopt the 1985 estimates of all sums required during the year for the purposes of the Municipality of the Corporation of the Town of Picketing, and to provide for the levying of the rates resulting therefrom and to levy the rates necessary to cover the estimated 1985 levy from the Council of the Corporation of the Regional Municipality of Durham. WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of subsection 1 of section 164 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, chapter 302, the Council of every Municipality shall, in each year, pre- pare and adopt estimates of all sums required during the year for the purposes of the Municipality; and WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of section 158 of the said Act, the Council of every local Municipality, in each year, shall levy a sum equal to the aggregate of the esti- mates referred to; and WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of subsection 3 of section 164 of the said Act, the Council may pass a by-law for levying such rates; and WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of subsection 1 of section 97 of the Regional Munic- ipality of Durham Act, R.S.O. 1980, chapter 434, the Council of the Corporation of the Regional Municipality of Durham, in each year, shall levy against the Area Municipal- ities, a sum sufficient for payment of the estimated current annual expenditures, pay- ment of all debts, and certain other purposes relating to the administration of the Regional Municipality; and WHEREAS the 1985 estimates of the Council of the Regional Municipality of Durham indi- cate that it shall be levying against the Corporation of the Town of Pickering a certain sum of money; and WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of subsection 3 of section 99 of the Regional Munic- ipality of Durham Act, R.S.O. 1980, chapter 434, the Council of every local Municipal- ity, in each year, shall levy, on the whole of the assessment for real property and business assessment, according to the last revised assessment roll, a sum equal to the sum required by law to be paid to the Corporation of the Regional Municipality of Durham, and that such levy may be made by by-law; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering HEREBY ENACTS as follows: Sections 2210.5, 2210.6, 2210.7, 2210.8, 2210.10 and 2210.11 of the Town of Pickering Municipal Code are hereby deleted and the following substituted there- for: 2210.5 2210.6 2210.7 The estimates of all su~ns required during the year 1985 for the pur- poses of the Municipality of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering, as set out in Column 4 of Section 2210.10, are hereby adopted. There shall be levied from and upon the whole of the assessment for real property and business assessment, according to the last revised assessment roll, a sum equal to the general estimate adopted hereby, according to the rates set out in Columns 5 and 6 of section 2210.10, for the year 1985. There shall be levied from and upon the whole of the assessment, according to the last revised assessment roll, for real property and business assessment within the approved Sanitation Area, a sum equal to the Special Area estimate for Sanitation adopted hereby, according to the rates set out in Columns 5 and 6 of section 2210.10 for the year 1985. 2210.8 2210.10 COLUMN 1 There shall be levied from and upon the whole of the assessment for real property and business assessment, according to the last revised assessment roll, a sum equal to the estimate set out in Column 4 of section 2210.11 at the rates set out in Columns 5 and 6 thereof, for the year 1985.
