Mosca welcomed everyone in attendance and called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm. 2. Disclosure of Interest No disclosure of interest was brought forward by any of the taskforce members. Page 1 of 3 3. Adoption of Agenda and Previous Minutes The taskforce reviewed the agenda and the minutes from the meeting held on Thursday, June 3, 2021. It was the consensus of the taskforce members to approve the agenda and adopt the minutes as received. 4. Delegations There were no delegates registered for the meeting. 5. Action Plans C. Mosca and members of the sub-committees reviewed the Development of Action Plans document. T. Ryce to invite the DRPS Community Liaison Officer to the next Policing and the Justice System Sub- committee meeting. 6. Other Business Discussion ensued regarding the potential reporting methods for individuals that have been victim to anti-Black racism. N. Holland recommended creating a resource database where individuals can find assistance. Each taskforce member should populate the website so the information is available to the community. T. Ryce advised that issues can be reported to the City’s Customer Care Centre. Once the database has been compiled, it should be shared with front line staff and the Customer Care staff so they can familiarize themselves with the available resources. Based on the feedback that the PABRT is receiving, the City may look into having a specific line or form dedicated to address anti-Black racism. The comment form could be attached to the database. Discussion ensured regarding the exploration of creative engagement opportunities within the community to entice participation. T. Ryce suggesting solidifying the launch of the website to align with the distribution of the postcards while developing an enewsletter, which will provide T. Ryce to explore the potential of having a comment form attached to the website. Page 2 of 3 measurable information through the click-through rates. Consideration should be given to having neighbourhood parties throughout City parks and not just City Centre to engage a greater audience. C. Addo-Bekoe recommended developing a communication strategy in advance of events to achieve the maximum engagement impact. O. Grignon provided an update pertaining to the discussions that occurred at the last communications meeting. It was determined not to explore social media channels for the time being.
