BY-LAW NO. 29~8/88
Being a by-law to provide for the renewal of the
Town's lease from J.D.S. Investments Limited of
office space in the Pickering Corporate Centre for
the period January 1, ]989 to September 30,
1989.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the predecessor of section 193 of the Munici-
pal Act, R.S.O. 1980, chapter 302, The Corporation of the Town of Pickering entered
into a Lease dated October 20, 1979 (and subsequently amended by agreements dated
July 4, 1983 and September 19, 1988) with J.D.S. Investments Limited for the pur-
pose of enabling the Town to occupy office space in the Picketing Corporate Centre,
subject to certain terms and conditions, one of which provides that the term of that
Lease shall expire on December 31, 1988, subject to an option permitting the Town to
renew the lease for a further term of up to nine months on the same terms and
conditions, except for any further right of renewal;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Pickering HEREBY
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. Pursuant to section 3.04(e) of Article III of the Lease dated October 20,
1979 and amended July 4, 1983 and September 19, 1988, between J.D.S.
Investments Limited and The Corporation of the Town of Pickering re-
specting the use by the latter of office space at the Pickering Corporate
Centre, The Corporation of the Town of Pickering hereby exercises its
option to renew that Lease, as amended, for a further nine-month term,
i.e., from and including January 1, 1989 to and including September 30,
1989, on the same terms and conditions as presently apply, except for
any further right of renewal.
2. The Town Solicitor is hereby authorized and directed to give written
notice of the exercise by The Corporation of the Town of Picketing of the
option to renew referred to in section 1 to J.D.S. Investments Limited on
or before December 15, 1988.
BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 12th day of
December, 1988.
