HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 2627/87THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 2627/87 Being a by-law to amend By-law Number 247/75 prohibiting and regulating the discharge of guns etc. within the Town of Pickering Whereas the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering enacted By-law Number 247/75 on June 2, 1975 to prohibit and regulate the discharge of guns, etc. within the Town of Pickering; and Whereas it is deemed expedient to prohibit the discharge of guns, etc. on those lands owned by the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority; Now Therefore the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering hereby enacts as follows: Schedule "A" to By-law Number 247/75 is hereby deleted and Schedule "I" to the By-law is substituted therefore. By-law read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 7th day of December, 1987. ITEM 1. SCHEDULE I SCHEDULE "A" TO BY-LAW 2627/87 DESCRIPTION All lands in the Ninth Concession, save and except: a) b) c) all of the south half and the south half of the north half of Lot 17, all of the south half and the south half of the north half of Lot 18, and the south half of Lot 19. All lands in the Eighth Concession, save and except: a) the north half of the north half of each of Lot 17, 18 and 19. All lands in the Seventh Concession, save and except: a) all of Lots ll and 12. All alnds in the Sixth Concession, save and except: a) those parts of Lots 8-12, inclusive, lying south of the King's Highway Number 7, and b) the south half of the south half of each of Lots 18 and 19. c) the south half of the south half of each of Lots 34 and 35 5. All lands in the Fifth Concession, save and except: a) b) c) d) all of Lots 10, ll and 12, the south half of Lots 13 and 14, the south half of the south half of Lot 30, and all of Lots 31-34, inclusive. All lands in the Fourth Concession, save and except: a) all of Lots27-32, inclusive. The discharge of guns, etc. on those portions not diagonally hatched is suk~ ject to the restrictions contained in section 2 of By-Law 247/75, as amended. A person shall not discharge any gun, firearm, air-gun or spring-gun or any class or ty~e thereof within the Town of Pickering, excluding crown lands and those lands ur~e~ wildlife extension a~ts. 2. No~ithstanding the provisions of section 1 of this By-Law, for the lands in the Tcwn described in Schedule "A" attached hereto, (a) Landowners may discharge a shotgun or rifle of no w~=ater calibre th~an · 275 for the control of pests upon lands owned or occupied by him provided that no shot or bullet shall pass over the boundary of the said lands. (b) A hun,mr having in his possession all necessary licences, re~,~ed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the Dcminion of Car~dm, to permit him to h~nt and to carry and discharge a gun, may discharge a shotgun or rifle of no greater callhre than .275 upon a landowner's land provided he has the landowner's consent. (c) A person may discharge a gun or other fireamn in the course of shooting c~,~etition provided the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering has, by resolution, given its consent to the holding of such competition. 3. EVERY PERSON CONTRAV~qING ANY PNOVISION OF THIS BY-LAW IS GUILTY OF AN O~'~2~CE AbD UPON CONVICTION, SHALL BE SUBJECT TO A F1/~ NOT F~,"~:,,)ING THE S~ OF $1,000.00, EXCLUSIVE OF COSTS. 4. The liability under section 3 hereof for contravention of section 2(b) hereof is not affected by reason only that the accused was given permission to he on the land, unless the permission is in writing signed by the owner or occupier of the land. Item 1.
