BY-LAW NO. 5942/02
Being a by-law respecting the execution of real
property related documents by electronic means.
WHEREAS Section 21 of the Land Registration Reform Act, R.S.O. 1990 c.L.4 provides that
electronic documents are not required to be in writing or to be signed;
AND WHEREAS section 40 (4) O.Reg. 19/99 provides that a document prepared by a person on
behalf of a party is deemed to have been made by that party;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to authorize the Solicitor for the City to execute certain
documents by electronic means.
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
Where a transaction relating to any property matter has been authorized by the Council of
the Corporation of the City of Pickering, the Solicitor for the City may execute by
electronic means any documents requiring registration that relate to the said transaction.
BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 21st day of January, 2002.
