BY-LAW NUMBER 4087/92
Being a by-law to restrict the weight of
vehicles passing over certain bridges
within the Town of Pickering.
Whereas pursuant to section 123.2 of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990 c. H
8, as amended, the municipal corporation or other authority having
Jurisdiction over a bridge may by by-law approved by the Ministry, limit the
gross weight of any vehicle or any class thereof passing over such bridge;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering HEREBY
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. No vehicle or combination of vehicles or any class thereof, whether
empty or loaded, shall be operated over those bridges set out in
Column I of Schedule "A" to this by-law where
(a) in the case of a single vehicle, the gross weight exceeds
that set out in Column II of the said Schedule,
(b) in the case of a combination of two vehicles, the gross
weight exceeds that set out in Column III of the said
Schedule,
(c) in the case of a combination of three vehicles the gross
weight exceeds that set out in Column IV of the said
Schedule.
2. Any person violating the provisions of this by-law shall be subject
to the penalties p~vided in Section 106 of the Highway Traffic Act.
3. By-law -~v~7~/~3 is hereby repealed.
4. This by-law shall not become effective until notice of the limit of
weight permitted in compliance with the regulations under the Highway
Traffic Act has been posed in a conspicuous place at each end of the
bridge, and until approved by the Ministry of Transportation.

Approved by the Ministry of Transportation for a period of two (2)
years from the date of this approval pursuant to subsection 123(2)
of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, chapter H.8.
