HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 3970/92 THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 39 7 0/9 2 Being a by-law to adopt Amendment No. 73 to the District Plan for the Town of Pickering WHEREAS pursuant to the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.p. 13, subsections 17(6) and 21(1), the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Picketing may by by-law adopt amendments to the District Plan for the Town of Picketing, being an official plan, and submit them to the Minister of Municipal Affairs for approval; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. Amendment No. 73 to the District Plan for the Town of Pickering, attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and including the Explanatory Text, is hereby adopted. 2. The Clerk of the Town of Pickering is hereby authorized and directed to submit Amendment No. 73 to the District Plan for the Town of Pickering to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs for approval. 3. This By-law shall come into force and take effect on the day of the final passing hereof. By-law read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 21s ~lay of April , 1992. Exhibit 'A' to By-law 39'20/92 AMENDMENT NO. 73 TO THE TOWN OF ?ICKERING DISTRICT PLAN (WOODLANDS COMMUNITY PLAN, PART A) AMENDMENT NO. 73 TO THE TOWN OF PICKERING DISTRICT PLAN (WOODLANDS COMMUNITY PLAN, PART A) PURPOSE: The purpose of .this amendment is to permit the establishment of limited commercial, retail and personal service uses as an integrated component of a business and professional office development, as well as hotels and hotel-support uses. LOCATION: The subject lands are located on the south side of Kingston Road, east of Whites Road. The lands affected by this amendment are approximately 1.1 hectare in size. The lands are generally described as being part of Lots 27 and 28, Range 3, B.F.C, Town of Picketing. BASIS: This amendment has been determined to be appropriate as it permits the development of a hotel and/or a xmxeo use office commercial building in a prominent area of the Town. It is an efficient use of the land, and allows development that could contribute significantly to the Town's employment opportunities while maintaining compatibility with existing and proposed developments in the area. ACTUAL AMENDMENT: The Town of Picketing District Plan (Woodlands Community Plan, Part A) is hereby amended by: 1. Rennmbering the existing subsection 3.C.(0 as Subsection 3.C.(g) and adding a new subsection 3.C.(0 as follows: (f) On the lands designated as "Highway Industrial - Commercial" and located within Special Policy Area "C" on Schedule VI-l-A, limited commercial, retail and personal service uses shall be permitted as an integrated component of a business and/or professional office development, subject to specific restrictions, including maximum floor area, to be established in the zoning by-law. Hotels and hotel-support uses shall also be permitted. 2. Revising Schedule VI-1-A as outlined on Exl~'oit 'A" to thi~ Amendment. IMPLEMENTATION: The provisions set forth in the Town of Picketing District Plan, as amended, regarding the implementation of the Plan shall apply in regard to this Amendment. INTERPRETATION: The provisions set forth in the Town of Picketing District Plan, as amended, regarding the interpretation of the Plan shall apply in regard to this Amendment.
