BY-LAW NO. 5 4 30/9 8
Being a by-law to establish fees for various
services and permits.
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 220.1 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, a municipality may
pass by-laws imposing fees or charges on any class of persons for services or activities provided
or done by or on behalf of it; and
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 210.146(b) of the said Act, a by-law passed under this paragraph
may provide for the charging of fees for the inspection and approval of such plans and for the
fixing of the amount of such fees and for the issuing of a permit certifying to such approval;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 7 of By-law Number 425/76 (Fences & Pool Enclosures) is hereby deleted and the
following is substituted therefor:
No person shall excavate for or erect a privately-owned swimming pool without a
permit certifying that approval of the plans for the enclosure has been issued and
the permit fee of $150.00 has been paid.
Section 5(2) of By-law Number 2439/87 (Signs) is hereby deleted and the following is
substituted therefore:
5(2) The fee payable for a permit thereof, for each individual sign shall be $150.00.
Schedule "A" to By-law Number 778/78 (Driveway Entrances) is hereby revoked and
Schedule 'T' attached to this by-law is substituted therefore.
No person or company shall undertake any work on Town-owned lands or boulevards
without first obtaining a permit from the Department of Public Works and paying a fee of
$300.00 for that permit.
A fee of $40.00 per lot shall be paid by the owner of lands that are subject to a drat~ plan
of subdivision to offset the cost of reviewing grading plans and engineering drawings.
The following fees are payable for the noted services performed by the staff of the Fire
Department:

7. By-law Numbers 2995/89, 4168/93 and 3641/91 are hereby repealed.
8. This by-law shall take effect on January 1, 1999.

NOTES:
As estimated by the Director of Public Works of the Town of Pickering.
Required in the sole opinion of the Director of Public Works.
Maximum permitted length of culvert at this amount is 15 metres.
CURB CUTS
The fee for curb cuts shall be the contracted cost plus an administration fee as deemed applicable
by the Director of Public Works.
