HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 4819/96 THE CORPORATION OF TIlE TOWN OF PICKERING BY=LAW NUMBER 4819/96 Being a by-law to prohibit the sounding of tram whistles at the Woodview Avenue crossing of the Canadian National Railway line. WHEREAS pursuant to Section 210.138 of the Municipal Act, ILS.O. 1990, c. M. 45, as amended, by-laws may be passed by the councils of local municipalities for prohibit'mg or regulating, within the municipality or within any defined area or areas thereot~ the ringing of bells, the blowing of horns, shouting and unusual noises, or noises likely to disturb the inhabitants; and WHEREAS Guideline Number 1 of the Railway Safety Directorate of Transpoa Canada sets out the appropriate procedure for the banning of whistling at public railway crossings; and NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. The sounding of train whistles is hereby prohibited at the Woodview Avenue crossing of the Canadian National Railway line more partienlarly described as Mileage 4.37 of the Main Line Canadian National Railway York Subdivision. 2. This By-law shah come into force at the tune of final approval by Canadian National Railways and Transport Canada. By-law read a first, second and third tune and finally passed this 24th day of June, 1996. Mayor
