Being a by-law to amend By-law 5112/97 to appoint Gillis A.
Paterson as an Acting Clerk in the absence of Thomas $.
Quinn and Penny L. Wyger.
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 73(3) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, chapter M.45,
as amended, when the office of the clerk is vacant or the clerk is unable to carry out his or
her duties through illness or otherwise, the Council may appoint an acting clerk who shall
have all the powers and duties of the clerk under this and every other Act; and
WHEREAS Council enacted By-law 5112/97 on September 15, 1997 to appoint Thomas
J. Quinn as an Acting Clerk and in his absence appointed Penny L. Wyger as an Acting
Clerk;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 2 of By-law Number 5112/98 is hereby amended by adding thereto the
following sentence:
"In the event that Penny L. Wyger is unable to carry out her duties as an Acting
Clerk through illness or otherwise, Gillis A. Peterson is hereby appointed to act as
the alternate Acting Clerk."
BY-LAW READ A FIRST SECOND AND THIRD TIME AND FINALLY PASSED
