BY-LAW NO. 5 318/9 8
Being a by-law to authorize the Director of Public Works
to temporarily close roads within the Town of Pickering
for construction or recreational purposes.
WHEREAS pursuant the provisions of the predecessor of section 297 (c) of the Municipal Act, R.S. 0.,
1990 c. M. 45, the Corporation of the Town of Pickering enacted By-law 1562/82, providing for the
temporary closing of roads under the jurisdiction of the Town for construction purposes.
AND WHEREAS pursuant the provisions of the predecessor of section 207.44 of the Municipal Act,
R.S. 0., 1990 c. M. 45, the Corporation of the Town of Pickering enacted By-law 3261/89, providing for
the temporary closing of roads under the jurisdiction of the Town for recreational purposes.
AND WHEREAS pursuant to the provision of section 207.43 and 207.44 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O.,
1990 c. M.45, the Corporation finds it necessary to authorize the Director of Public Works to
temporarily close roads within the Town of Pickering for construction or recreational purposes.
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering HEREBY ENACTS AS
FOLLOWS:
The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to temporarily close roads which the Director
of Public Works determines necessary for:
construction, repairing or improvement of roads or portions thereof or of any works,
under, over, along, across or upon such roads or portion thereof; or
social, recreational, community, athletic or cinematographic purpose, or combination of
such purposes.
BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 1st day of June, 1998.
