Being a by-law to appoint Kimberly Thompson as a
Municipal Law Enforcement Officer and a Property
Standards Officer
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 15(1) and 15(2) of the Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1990,
chapter P. 15, as amended, a municipal council may appoint persons to enforce the by-laws
of the municipality and municipal by-law enforcement officers are peace officers for the
purpose of enforcing municipal by-laws; and
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 31(1) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, chapter P.13, as
amended, an officer means a property standards officer who has been assigned the
responsibility of administering and enforcing bylaws passed under this Section;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
From and after the 4th day of May, 1998, Kimberly Thompson, of the Town of
Picketing, in the Regional Municipality of Durham, is hereby appointed as a
Municipal Law Enforcement Officer, who shall be a Peace Officer, for the purpose
of enforcing the by-laws of the municipality of the Corporation of the Town of
Picketing and is hereby appointed as a Property Standards Officer.
By-law 5161/97 is hereby amended by deleting therefrom all references to Mr.
Terence Crosthewaite.
By-law read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 19th day of May, 1998.
