CLERKS REPORT CL 30-02 APPOINTMENT TO ENFORCE THE PARKING BY-LAW AT 905 BAYLY ST., 1915 DENMAR RD.. 1310 FIELDLIGHT BLVD. AND 1345 AL TONA ROAD Approved See Recommendation #2 3. PROCLAMATIONS "BREAKFAST FOR LEARNING MONTH" "WHITE RIBBON AGAINST PORNOGRAPHY WEEK" "TERRY FOX RUN DAY" Approved See Recommendation #3 (III) 1. OTHER BUSINESS The Director, Planning & Development distributed a fax regarding an application in Ajax south of Picov Downs to redesignate a large area for a wide range of retail and commercial uses. 2. Planning Committee concurred with a request of the Rockport Group (Commercial Devco Inc.) that the Director, Planning & Development be authorized to make a decision respecting draft plan of subdivision SP-2002-03 without full reporting to Planning Committee and Council. This concurrence was based on the technical nature of the proposed plan of subdivision. 3. Councillor Holland gave notice of a motion concerning tracking system. 4. Councillor Holland suggested that Members of Council meet with Dr. Nick Eyles and the Division Head, Municipal Property & Engineering concerning Frenchman's Bay Rehabilitation prior to the preparation of budgets. 5. Councillor Pickles requested staff to contact the police concerning the increase in destruction of equipment in Brockridge, Centennial and Major Oaks Parks. -2- Committee of the Whole Meeting Minutes Monday, September 9,2002 10:32 p.m. Chair: Councillor Ryan 6. 7. 8. 9. Councillor Johnson invited Council to attend the September 25th Women's Center Meeting. Councillor Johnson advised Council of the Terry Fox Run taking place on Sunday, September 15th. Councillor Johnson requested staff to investigate with the City of Mississauga if they have a by-law restricting night flights over their municipality. Councillor Johnson expressed concerns over the Federal Governments electoral boundary proposal. 10. Councillor Brenner advised that the Planning and Committee of the Whole Agendas did not appear on the Web Site. 11. Councillor Brenner questioned if an application has been submitted for the north Pickering Golf Course. 12. Councillor Ryan advised that he is still receiving calls from the individuals who paid for 'boards' for the boardwalk but have not yet received their refund. 13. The following matters were considered prior to the regular meeting: a) The Chief Administrative Officer advised of the award won at the CNE by the Parks & Facilities Department along with Dorsey James. b) The Chief Administrative Officer advised that a revised report is being prepared on Can-Sort. c) The Chief Administrative Officer advised that, in cooperation with the Fire Marshall, Fire Chiefs and Fire Union, the flags will be lowered on September 11~. . IV ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 11: 12 p.m. -3- Appendix I Committee of the Whole COW 2002-9 That the Committee of the Whole of the City of Pickering having met on September 9, 2002, presents its ninth report to Council and recommends: 1. MAYORS OFFICE REPORT MO 03-02 GTM PICKERING ADVISORY COMMITTEE STATUS UPDATE 1. That Council receive for information, Report to Council MO 03-02 providing a status update on the GT M's Pickering Advisory Committee. 2. CLERKS REPORT CL 30-02 APPOINTMENT TO ENFORCE THE PARKING BY-LAW AT 905 BAYLY ST., 1915 DENMAR RD.. 1310 FIELDLIGHT BLVD. AND 1345 ALTONA ROAD 1. That the draft by-law to appoint three persons to enforce the Parking By-law at 905 Bayly St., 1915 Denmar Rd., 1310 Fieldlight Blvd. and 1345 Altona Rd. be forwarded to Council for approval. 3. PROCLAMATIONS "BREAKFAST FOR LEARNING MONTH" "WHITE RIBBON AGAINST PORNOGRAPHY WEEK" "TERRY FOX RUN DAY" That Mayor Arthurs be authorized to make the following proclamations: "Breakfast for Learning Month" - September, 2002 "White Ribbon Against Pornography Week" - October 20 - 27, 2002 "Terry Fox Run Day" - September 15, 2002 -4-
