(II) 1. DELEGATIONS George Martin, President, Greenwood and Area Ratepayers Association, addressed Council with respect to the Town's preliminary comments to the Durham Regi ona 1 Offi ci a 1 Pl an Revi ew. A 1 though genera 11 y in support of Planning Report 5/90, he stated his concern with respect to section 4, Rural Areas. He objected to the phrase "rural-urban transition area" and to urban development to the south boundary of the proposed Highway 407. He added that major open space should be preserved to separate rural and urban areas and farmi ng shoul d not be obli terated. He requested that Council consider making amendments to this section of the report in order to preserve hamlets and the rural way of life. CARR J.c.lI OTHER BUSINESS Councillor Johnson stated a sound system should be obtained for the Council Chambers. Counci 11 or Johnson stated an adequate infrastructure to meet the needs of resi dents shoul d be in pl ace prior to the development of Seaton. Councillor Johnson stated his concern that no Provincial funding has been received for the expansion of the Ajax/Pickering Hospital. Councillor Johnson stated his concern with respect to the proposed Pl landfill site. Counci 11 or Johnson stated Regi ona 1 Road 5 from Brock Road in Claremont to the Townline Road is in poor condition alid requires repair. Counci 11 or Johnson spoke in support of the Taunton Road/Steeles Avenue connection. Councillor Van Kempen inquired into the status of the report regarding the closure of the Maple Ridge Li brary Branch. Counci 11 or Van Kempen inqui red into the status of the report on estab 1 i shi ng a 40 ki 1 ometre per hour speed limit adjacent to schools. Councillor Van Kempen stated the Big Brothers Bowl-a- Thon wi 11 be hel d thi s weekend and asked for sponsors. Councillor Brenner inquired into the status of the Baypark Homes dispute. Councillor Brenner submitted harassment policy to the Clerk. sample sexual a Councillor Brenner inquired into target levels and job creation within the Economic Development Committee. I 8 18 3/90 OTHER BUSINESS Councillor Brenner introduced the following Notice of Motion to be dealt with on February 19,1990: Moved by Councillor Brenner Seconded by Councillor Johnson That the 1991 Budget be considered in the public forum. Councillor Mitchell stated that signs indicating a curve in the road should be erected in the Shadybrook Drive/Spruce Hill Road/Ada Court area. Council 1 01 Mitchell stated his opposition to the use of Whites Road as an access to the proposed Pì landfill site. Councillor Morgan expressed her appreciation to the staff that cleared the sidewalk on Valley Farm Road, south of Highway #2. Councillor Morgan stated that the PACT Annual Open House will be held on February 21, 1990 at Dunbarton High School. Mayor Arthurs spoke in support of the Bi g Brothers Bowl-a-Thon. The following matters were discussed prior to the regular meeting: (a) A decision of the Land Division Committee was discussed. Resolution #22/90 Moved by Councillor Brenner Seconded by Councillor Van Kempen PROVISION FOR PARU RESCUE VESSEL IN FIVE YEAR FORECAST FILE NUMBER - C1000 That the amount of $200,000 for the provision of a replacement rescue vessel in 1992 for PARU be included in the Five Year Capital Forecast.
