ADOPTION OF MINUTES
Regular meeting of December 18,1989.

BY-LAWS
Councillor Dickerson, seconded by Counci 11 or Brenner moved for
~eave to introduce by-laws of the Town of Pickering:
By-law Number 3358/90
Bei ng a by-l aw to amend By-l aw 2108/85 respecti ng the temporary
borrowing of monies until taxes are collected (1990).
By-law Number 3359/90
Being a by-law to appoint persons to the Town of Pickering Local
Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee.

THIRD READING
Councillor Mitchell, seconded by Counci 11 or Brenner moved that
the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-l aw Numbers
3358/90 and 3359/90 be adopted and the said by-laws be now read
a thi rd time and PASSED and that the Mayor and Cl erk si gn the
same and the seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.

The following motion was considered:

Seconded by Councillor Morgan
TRANSIT SERVICE TO
GO STATiON FROM CLAREMONT
FILE NUMBER - F 4100
That a Monday to Friday transit service, two trips per
day, to conmence on Monday, January 15, 1990 for a two
month trial period be approved;
and that an over-expenditure of $3,600 in the 1990
Transit Operating Budget be approved.
CARRIED
Counci 11 or Van Kempen requested a report on a zoni ng
infraction at the intersection of Liverpool Road and
Krosno Boulevard.
Councillor Van Kempen welcomed the public to the new
Civic Complex.
Counci 11 or Brenner commented on pub 1 i c parti ci pati on
and progress in 1989 and for 1990.
Councillor Mitchell commented on the new Civic Complex.
rouncillor Dickerson introduced the following Notice
of Motion to be dealt with on January 22,1990:
That Councillors Van Kempen and Morgan be appointed to
a committee to i nvesti gate the benefi ts to the Town of
Pickering of the agreement between the Region of
Durham and Metropol itan Toronto with respect to
landfill sites; and
That Counci 11 ors Van Kempen and Morgan be authori zed
to negoti ate on the Town I s behalf and report back to
Council .
Counci 11 or Dickerson commented on the fi rst Counci 1
meeting in the new civic facility, the Frenchman's Bay
matter and the landfill site in Pickering.
Councillor Morgan expre~sed her pride in the new Civic
Complex.
Mayor Arthurs thanked staff for their efforts with
respect to the new Civic Complex.

Councillor Morgan, seconded by Councillor Brenner moved for
1 eave to i ntrodllce a By-l aw of the Town of Pi eked ng to confi rm
the proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering at its meeting held on the 8th day of January, 1990
and that the same be now read a first, second and third time and
that the same be now fi na lly passed and that the Mayor and Cl erk
sign the same and that the Seal of the Corporation be thereto
affixed.
