Manager - Town Clerk - Deputy Clerk - Director of Planning - Senior Planner - Implementation - Senior Planner - Long Range The following persons addressed Council with respect to filling the vacancy in the office of Regional Councillor - Ward 3. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. - Ken Ferrance, President, Old Trespass Road Neighboul'hood Association, asked Council to consider appointing Councillor Arthurs to the office of the Regional Councillor and to call a by-election for the office of Local Councillor. He stated there would be no representation in Ward 3 for a month if an appointment is not made. Lloyd Thomas, President, Whiteva1e and District Ratepayers Associat ion stated Counc illor Arthurs shou Id be appointed Regiona 1 Councillor and that a Select ion Col!lllittee shou ld appoint a person to be Local Councillor. Brian Kerman, Claremont, stated the cost of an election would be saved if Councillor Arthurs is appointed as Regional Councillor. Mary Papp, 1634 Dreyber Court. stated a by-election should be ca lle(l. Rod Mason. 1748 Finch Avenue, stated that a precedent had been set in 1977 and that Councillor Arthurs should be appointed as Regional Councillor with a by-election for Local Councillor. He submitted a letter from Elaine Phipps. (continued) Ed Sillpson, Whiteva1e, suted a letter subllitted by hi. to MeMbers of Council outlined his opinion. Fay Waugh, 1947 Woodview Avenue, stated Councillor Arthurs should be appointed as Regional Councillor ðnd that a by-election be called for local Councillor. Chuck Braiden, Pres ident, Yilla~ East COIIRIn ity Association stated Councfl1or Arthurs should be appointed as Reg1ooal Coun<:f11ð!" and that a c{)8littee should be established to select the loca~ Councillor. Larry Griffiths, Old Trespass Road Neighbourhood Association, asked what salaries Regional and Local Councillors receive. He supported an appointment of Councillor Arthurs as Regional Councillor. Shayne Hucksfie1d, 1632 Dreyber Court, stated Councillor Arthurs should be appo inted as Reg iona I Counc 1110r or that a by-election be called. David Strain, 1201 Halsey Lane, stated Councillor Arthurs should be appointed as Regionðl Councillor and that ð by-election be called for local Councillor. Beverley Morgan, 1605 Gðnda If Court, submitted a 1 ist of persons who want Councillor Arthurs to be appointed as Regionðl Councillor ane a by-election to be eal1ed for Local Councillor. Gordon Potts, stated Councillor Arthurs should be appointed as Regional Councillor. Gary Hunnell, 627 Cowan Circle, stated Councillor Arthurs should be appointed as Regional Councillor and that a by-election be called for a Local Councillor. He also stated that a po licy shou ld be estab 1 ished for the future on situations such as these. BY-LAW Councillor Robertson, seconded by Counc illor Coburn moved for 1 eave to introduce a by-law of the Town of Pickering: By-law Number 2585/87 Being a by-law to require an election to be held to fill the vacancy for the office of Regional Councillor - Ward 3.
