Mr. Alfred Tyas. 542 Kingston Road. addressed Council to object to the proposed motel on the south side of Kingston Road, west of Rosebank Road. He stated that this rezoning is a major c'ange of use from light manufacturing to a motel. Willson and Sons (1974) Limited of a corn drying facility is hereby declared an emergency for the purpose of Section 6(1) thereof but the relief granted under this resolution shall not extend beyond December 15. 1984. nor will the corn drying facility be operated between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. of any day. with the exception of any 21 days of the corn harvest season to commence on October 15. 1984. (V) BY-LAWS Councillor Mitchell seconded by Councillor Cahill moved for leave to introduce By-laws of the Town of Pickering: By-law Number 1769/83 Being a by-law to prohibit or regulate the keeping and running at large of certain animals. By-law Number 1898/84 - Two Readings Only Being a by-law to change the name of Sheridan Hall Parkway to Town Centre Parkway. By-law Number 1899/84 Being a by-law to restrict the weight of vehicles passing over certain bridges within the Town of Pickering. By-law Number 1900/84 Being a by-l¿w to appoint members to the Town of Pickering Crown Game Reserve THIRD READING . Councillor Mitchell. seconded by Councillor Cahill moved that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-law Numbers 1769/83. 1899/84 and 1900/84 be adopted with the following amendment: By-la~ Number 1769/83 was amended by changing the maximum number of pigeons that may be kept from 70 to 25; and that the said By-laws be now read a Third Time and PASSED. and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and the seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED By-law read a First. Second and Third time and Finally Passed. 16/84 - 81 - ( VI) OTHER BUSINESS 1. Councillor Stoner asked that the Region be requested to study the feasibility of installing traffic signals at the intersection of Brock Road and Finch Avenue. . Resolution 191/84 Moved by Councillor Stoner Seconded by Councillor Arthurs That the Region of Durham be requested to study the feasibility of installi~g traffic signals at the intersection of Brock Road and Finch Avenue. CARRIED 2. rouncillor Cahill reported that the Province h&s enacted legislation to ensure that school buses which deliver children to day care centres and other non-school act~vities shall be required to use their flashing lights. 3. Councillor Mitchell asked that the By-law Officers be more available to the public during off hours. 4. Prior to the regular melting. Council considered a Confidential Report of the Director or Public Works regarding the Works Centre. Resolution 192/84 Moved by Councillor Cahill Seconded by Councillor Ro~~~t~on That the Confidential Report of the Director of Public Works regarding the Works Centre be received; and that the Town Manager be authorized to seek proposals from consultants to prepare a space/needs study of the Works Centre subject to the Town being eligible for subsidies to fund this study.
