A meeting of Pickering Township Council was held on MONDAY, the

The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered:
1. Mr. J. C. W. Irwin, of Whitevale, asks for Township policy on
repayment of costs of locating a water supply for all or part
of the Hamlet of Whitevale.
Clerk get direction from solicitors about financing cost of
locating water if not proceeded with.
2. Mr. T. O. Jefferson asks for an amendment to By-Law No. 2506,
wh~ch would permit Treasurer to estimate water bills for
billing when meter reading not returned. See By-Law No. 2700.
3. County En~ineer has erected directional signs on Baseline Road
to p~cker~ng Beach, Squire's Beach, and Frenchman's Bay; has
ordered signs for Ontoro Beach and Pickering Station and would
prepare a finger sign for Fairport Beach at Liverpool Road if
requested.
Clerk advise County Engineer Council wish directional sign to
Fairport Beach from Liverpool Road.
4. Insurance Tenders. See May 28th Minutes. See Resolution No.

Clerk's report, City of Toronto - disposal of large garbage items.
Home owners call ~an~tat~on Department for special pick-up. If
only, say, a chesterfield suite, it is picked up on Wednesday.
If it is a cord of wood, it is taken in several calls.
A Toronto line in Municipal Offices would save about $50.00 in
telephone calls per month.
Handicapped Children's Association - thanks for $100.00 Township

gallon; Mr. Cane, 2439 miles - 44 miles per gallon; Engineer,
649 miles (No Trouble); Assistant Building Inspector, 1100

22. Mr. D. Brundle objected to Township permitting cars to be
parked on sewage land at Fairport on week ends free, when he
operates a parking lot. Council investigate.
The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
It was AGREED that Mrs. Hargraves, Mr. Burnie, and Ronald Stewart
be heard.
They asked Council to do all things possible so that the parks in
Bay Ridges were made ready for Use.
Reeve Scott stated that there was some misunderstanding with Con-
sol~dated Building Corporation, but they wer'b meeting next morning;
and that the Krosno Park should be ready for use by June 9th;
and that Modlin Park would be useable shortly after.
Mr. Burnie felt that the Sunday Sports By-Law should read 1:30 p.m.
to 8 p. m.
Mr. Frank Hibbert again asked Council to include dancing as a
perm~tted sport in the Sunday Sports By-Law. See By-Law No. 2694.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 161/62
MOVLD by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Wank, that all Township roads
abutting school property be zoned 35 miles per hour. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 162/62
MOVLD by Mr. ~eak~n, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that the attached
form resolution to approve the application of the Pickering District
High School Board for a 13 room addition to Dunbarton High School
at a total estimated cost of $507,660.00, of which $433,575.00 will
be a Vocational Grant from the Province of Ontario and $74,085.00
be paid by a Township debenture, be approved, and that the appli-
cation for an addition at a cost of $344,000.00 be rescinded. CARRIED

MOVLD by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that as the Road
Department of the County of Ontario has cut most of the trees on
the Brock Road, as widened from 66 feet to 100 feet, from No. 2
Highway to the Fourth Concession Line, this Council go on record
that they wish the said County of Ontario to immediately institute
a tree planting project to plant trees on both sides of the road
as widened, and that such trees be a fast growing variety such
as Norway Maple. CARRIED

appl~cation to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval of consent
for Joseph Amos and his wife Frances Amos, to convey to Balys Charlie
Serksnas a tract of about 4 1/2 acres of land comprised of a parcel
with 79.45 feet frontage on south side of road between Concessions
1 and 2, by 425 feet depth, together with an attached parcel 400 feet
by 400 feet in area, lying to the rear - all part of Township Lot 35,
Concession 1; as recommended by the Township of Pickering Planning

Estate of Thomas Lawson Wilson to convey to Gordon Leonard Wilson,
Orval Douglas Wilson, Kenneth Alfred Wilson, and Alvin Leroy Wilson,
the north half of Whitevale Village Lots 28 and 29, Registered Plan
21, with existing house; as recommended by the Township of Pickering

app11cation to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval of consent
for Al Pickard to convey to Sura and Rachmil Kotuszveski an irregular
parcel of land, 6.02 acres in area, part of Lot 27, Concession 2, and
having a frontage of 228.37 feet of the road between Lots 26 and
27 (being all the land owned by Al Pickard lying to the north of
the Canadian Pacific Railway right-of-way); as recommended by the Pick-

MOVED by Mr. Greening, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that this Council
make application to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval of consent
for Bertha and David Moir to convey to Joseph and Frances Amos a
parcel, with frontage 79.93 feet on the south side of the road
between Concessions 1 and 2 by a depth of 825 feet (part Lot 35,
Con. 1), on condition this parcel be incorporated under one deed
with adjoining land to the east now owned by Joseph and Frances
Amos; as recommended by the Township of Pickering Planning Board

MOVLD by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Spang, that this Council make
application to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval of consent
for Josie Hartman"Wilson and Kenneth Alfred Wilson, Executors of the
Estate of Thomas Lawson Wilson, to convey to Gordon Leonard Wilson
the right-of-way up to and along the mill race to certain lands now
owned by Gordon Leonard Wilson (right-of-way over parts of Township
Lots 31 and 32, Concession 5, and over parts of Village Lots 56,
55 and 16, Registered Plan 21); as recommended by the Pickering Town-
ship Planning Board June 1, 1962. CARRIED

application to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval of consent

MOVLD by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Spang, that this Council
make application to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval of
consent for Verda R. Washburn to convey to Donald Louis Masnica a
parcel of land with 80 feet frontage on the south side of the
Pickering-Uxbridge Town Line, by a depth of 264 feet (part of Lot 25,
Con. 9); as recommended by the Pickering Township Planning Board.

to name the sideline between Lots 14 and 15 in the Sixth Concession
of the Township of Pickering, be now read a second time, and that

BY-LAW NUMBER 2702 (Two Readings)
Mr. Mowbray. seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves for leave to introduce
a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of
$160.000.00 upon debentures for public school purposes (Bayview
Heights School), and to repeal By-Law Number 2660, and that same now
be read a first time.
Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Greening, moves that By-Law Number 2702
to authorize the borrowing of $160,000.00 upon debentures for
public school purposes and to repeal By-Law Number 2660 be now read
a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole
thereon.
