HomeMy WebLinkAboutAugust 18, 1958 MUNICIPAL BUILDING B R 0 U....!U! A M A ROAD COMMITTEE MEETING was held following the Council Meeting on MONDAY, the EIGHTEENTH day of AUGUST, 1958. PRESENT: J. S. Scott,. in the Chair W; G. Lawson Sidney S. J. Pugh Edgar :t ame s ~s. Jèan McPherson H. Ross Hawthorne Robert L. Stewart H. S. Pearce, Deputy Clerk Mr. Jack ChaDman, Road Superintendent, discussed with Committee members progress in various priority construction jobs in the different wards. It was felt that the priority work should be proceeded with, with all haste, even if it meant a measure of curtailment of maintenance. Mr. Chapman was requested to prepare a report showing in detail the capital and maintenance expenditures to date in each ward in relation to the budget for the current year. This report to be mailed to members of Council for study; same to be discussed at Council meeting on August 25th, 1958. AGREED that Road Superintendent immediately invite tenders on a Front End Loader. It was suggested these be the same people who had tendered on mower. AGREED that Road Superintendent be authorized to spend up to amount of ¡5,000.00 for the hiring of outside trucks for Road work. AGREED that letters be sent to builders M. Lewandowski & Son and Mayfåir Construotion asking that outlets of sump drains to ditches be moved, where necessary, to permit a proper 18 foot culvert to be installed. AGREED that Road Superintendent be authorized to install a suitable culvert to replace a defective bridge on little-used sideline 24/25, Concession 4; estimated cost around $300.00. . AGREED that Mr. J. Kingstone be taken on permanent staff as a labourer at 11.10 per hour; also that one other labourer be hired for permanent staff at same hourly rate. .......
