PRESENT: William G. Lawson, in the Chair J. Sherman Scott Sidney S. J. Pugh Edgar James Mrs. Jean McPherson H. Ross Hawthorne Robert L. Stewart Lloyd T. Johnston, Clerk -, ?he following CORRESPONDENCE was read: 1. Dr. H. Mercer asked for a culvert for his right-of-way to Range Line, Broken Front, Range 2, Lot 13. v AGREED he shoul~ purchase his owr culvert. ~. School Section 11, Green River, asked for e55,noO.00 debentures for a new ~ three roomed school. 3. DeDartment of Hi~hwavs of Ontario reporte~ that in 1959 they would construct ~ a11 overpass over Highwa~1 401 at Moore Road with no entrance to Highway 401. Will build By-Pass at same time. 4. Mr. Cruikshank. owner of three acres in north half of Lot 27, Concession 2, wishes to sell his lands to a Mr. Kosmach if a Building Permit for a boat ~ wor1{s can be secured. It is estimated that the building would be about 10,000 square feet and employ from 9 to 15 men. " 5. Mr. Godsor- stated he is ready to return to work. Mr. Hazlett advised he intends to proceed with 20 motel units at Broken Front, Range 3, Lot 35. Mr. Hassard is preparing By-Law. The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard: 1. Mrs. Dixor: of Cor-cessio] 2, Lot 30, stated her taxes on 74l acre farm had ircreased '450.00 in 195R over 1957. The Assessor explained that Mr. Dixon is now classified as a builder so his farm lands are automatically increased ~ froĊ“ $30.00 per acre to '100.00 per acre ard that due to five Hydro towers located or the farm an allowance for same would be made òn 195R assessment. 2, Mr. Bernard Boutet and six ratepayers of Brownfield Gardens expressed opinion that Chesterhill should be required to make proper ditches immecliately as there is betweer OLe and two feet of water stagnating in front of their homes; also that there should be a dust layer placed on roads. Reeve Lawson explained the action how being taken against the developer and assured them the work would shortly be done. 1. ~r. Goslin advised Council (1) JOhl; Burrows' home at Green River assessed at $3410. ill 1957 and reduced by Judge to $2175. will be assessed at $3410. plus reduced allowances for year 1958. ('2) Re three appeals to County Judge not heard by him because of mal:ner of serving rotice of appeal. ? ~r. Goslin (Continued) (1) That he required an understudy for Mrs. Robertson. L- tI' 1. Lorne Puckrir. discussed his marfler of appeal to County Judge. 5. Messrs. Butler ani Childs of Proctor and Redfern discussed Chesterhill Agreement and agreeiJ to submit to Chesterhill Development Company a list of all those services in their subdivision which are rot completed as per agreement. RESOLUTION NUMBER 133 ~OVED by }w. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that ~r. Kosmach be issued a building permit for 3 acres in N. half Lot 27, Concession 2. CARRIED " RESOLUTION NUMBER 131 MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. James, that Mr. Jack Chapman be paid the difference in salary between the $5,200.00 as set out by the By-law hiring Mr. Chapman and the anticipated approval of the Dept. of Highways, ard that this Council commend his work to date. CARRIED v' YEAS: Messrs. James, Hawthorne, Pugh, Latison, Scott and Stewart. NAY: Mrs. McPherson. RESOLUTION NUMBER 135 ~OVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Stewart, that the Chesterhill Agreement be discharged agairst Lots 225 to 229 inclusive, Plan 612. " BY-LAW NUMBER 2331 ~r. Scott, seconiJed by Mrs. McPherson, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to amend By-Law Number 2218 which provided for a Civil Defence Committee and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law Number 2331 to amend By~Law Number 2218 which provided for a Civil Defence Committee be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, moves that ~f the Whole Ofl By-r~w No. be adopted, avd read a Third time alld PASSED; that the Reeve and Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. BY-LAW NUMBER 2332 (Two Readings) the report of the Committee that the said By-Law be now Clerk sign the same, and the CARRIED Mr. Pugh, secorded by Mr. James, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to provide for the issue .of Debentures iv the aggregate prircipal amount of $55,000.00 to provi~e moneys for the purpose of building ard equipping a three room school in 10wnship School Section Number 11 of the Township of Pickering and that same how be read a first time. ..:. - 3 - By-Law Number 2332 (Conti rued) Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, moves that By-Law Number 2332 to provide for the issue of Debentures in the aggregate prircipal amount of ~~5,000.00 to provide moreys for the purpose of building ard equipping a three room school ir Township School Section Number 11 of the Township of Pickering be now rea~ a secord time, ard that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
