A ¥eeting o~ Council was held on MONDAY, the SEVENTH day o~ JULY, 1958, at
EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. Buildin~ InsDect9r's Report for June:
85 Permits, estimated value - $ 1 060,050.00.
including 63 dwellings averaging $15,400.00 each.
Estimated value - 266 permits to June 30, 1958 - $ 3,204,950.00

2. West Rou~e Community Association advise that they request Council
not to permit Mr. Bungaro to build apartments.
3. Residents of Beachv1ew Avenue do not wish to sign an agreement to pay
Township $450.00 to take over the road.

5. West Rouae Canoe Club asked for a Township grant of $125.00 to assist
them in purchasing boats and canoes. They have a membership of 50 to
AO youngsters.
6. Mr. Orr asked for a letter of tolerance for Lot 1, Plan M 5, as one
corner or house is only 28' loin from street line as widened.
7. TownshiD or Pickerin~ Plannin~ Board submitted the following Resolution:
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Ritchie, that the Planning Board
request Council to appeal the decision o~ the Judge in the case of Stowe
and Geuld, whereby the Board have been directed to permit the 50 foot
lots 45 and 46, Plan 284, to be divided for two building lots in spite of
our Zoning By-Law which requires lot frontages in that area to be 60 feet.

8. TownshiD of Pickerin~ Plannin2 Board submitted the following Resolution:
MOVED by Mr. Ritchie, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Council be urged to
suspend Building Permits issued on basis of Stowe and Gould judgment,
until consents for properties in question be granted by this Planning
Board. , CARRIED
The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
1. Milne Freeman, Solicitor, presented a petition of 11 families on Oakwood
Drive requesting that Oakwood Avenue from Lot 60 north to Toynevale Road
be zoned "Comm~rcial and Light Industry" rather than "R 2" as at present J
the residents do operate a greenhouse, a large hen house, a small hen house,
and a machine shop, and several wished to increase their operations.

2. Mr. Ivan Irwin asked that "Rosebank Manor" be permitted to be changed v
from an apartment house to a convalescent home, and Rodd's store and
welding operation be classified "Commercial".

3. Mr. Pennell asked for a permit to build two more greenhouses.
4. Mr. ObI, in Plan 418, stated he wanted to build a greenhouse.
5. Mrs. Krocker said her husband operated a welding business.
6. Mr. McLeod has one hen house with 500 hens and wanted a permit for
another the same size.

7. Mr. Robert~makes "Cobalt Bombs" on Pine Ridge Drive.
8. Mr. RedDath, in favour of zoning, but sympathetic to Mr. Pennell.
9. Mr. Blakely and Mr. Finni~an objected to:

(1) smell at Pickering Beach and claimed it came from untreated
sewage from Ontario Hospital. Clerk get report from M. O. H.
and send copy to Mr. Blakely.
(2) Asked that roads in Pickering Beach be graded.
(3) Township fill in Pickering Beaoh swampy lots.
(4) Township take over Beachview Road at no expense to ratepayers.
Clerk reported Mr. Chapman would make full report on July 14th to Council
re drainage.
10. Mr. Bannock and delegation of eight objected to building permits being .¡
issued on 50 foot lôts when owner had more than one lot. Claimed the
West Rouge Ratepayers would issue an injunction if more such permits
were issued.

11. Messrs. MoPherson and Williams of West Rouge also discussed building
permits in West Rouge.
12. Mr. Gordon McBride asked if Council would agree to a residential sub- j
division of ot3 lots in B.F. R. 3, Lot 35, south of Highway 401. He
agreed to a subdivision agreement similar to the one entered· into with
Rouge Highlands.

MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that Council give a grant of
Fifty Dollars ($50.00) to the West Rouge Canoe Club. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 118
MOVED BY Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Stewart, that whereas the north front wall ~
of home erected on Lot 1, Plan M 5 is correct, being located 30'4" from the .
street line, but due to an error the south stake was moved so that the south
frónt wall is looated only 28' 10¥" from the street line,

THEREFORE a letter of tolerance be issued by this Council, and the Township
Council will not take any aotion due to this error. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 119
MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. James, that legal advice be sought
immediately by Council to determine if present construction on 50 foot lots in ,~
West Rouge area can be stopped pending outoome of appeal on Stowe mandamus and
that no further issua~oe be made of building permits for construction on other
50 foot lots existant~ 1n that area, excepting sole remaining parcels of land.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 120
MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Council, in concurrence with
the Township Planning Board, approve the land use suggested by Mr. Gordon McBride ~
for the land in part of Lot 35, Broken Front, Range 3, Township of Piokering.

MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that our solicitors be advised that
this Counoil wish to appeal the Stowe and Gould mandamus. CARRIED
On MOTION of Mr. Stewart, the meeting adjourned.
