An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the SEVENTEENTH day
of MARCH, 1958, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

11. Information re Chomko application for tile drainage.
Council MAY approve debenture. No Municipality in Uxbridge area
under Mr. Fair have any such debentures. The Province will purchase
at 4% if application is approved.
De»artment of Health say Township should take over the Marshall
burying ground, Concession 2, Lot 18, on east side of Brock Road.

Metro Conservation Authorit requisition for 1958 - $4,006.16.
An increase of 1,200.00 over 1957.

Garba~e men working 59 to 60 hours per week and after a holiday
63 to 65 hours. As there is another truck in estimates, it was
AGREED that the Clerk be authorized to hire additional men on
Saturday when a holiday occurs.

Advice that the Chesterhill A~reement as amended was signed this
day.
West Rou~e ftate»aYe~s' Association asked for a "Yield Right of Way"
sign on East Avenue at Ridgewood Drive and stated that they would

Our Health Unit Medical Officer of Health advises that septic tanks
in West Rouge are properly installed.
9. C. H. Henderson of West Rouge will instal a 16 inch "glass" tile
drain in front of his property on east side of East Avenue if Council
will approve, give levels and supply necessary fill.

if Council have a need.

Board sitting on April 2nd at prougham to hear appeal.

Mr. Cook, Chairman of School Area Number 2 Board, reviewed 1958 School
Budget, stated that he thought they had been generous to the teachers, y/
that minimum salary equal to that of Scarboro and only a little less
than that of Toronto.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 44
MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr.Stewart,
WHEREAS it would appear that the Mill ftates for Public School purposes in
Pickering Township School Area #2 for the year 1958 will total 30.5 mills
AND WHEREAS the mill rates for Public School purposes in Area #2 for the
year 1957 totaled 28.2 mills
AND WHERK~S the assessment of School Area #2 for the 1958 levy is $6,192,112. 77
while the assessment for the 1957 levy was only $5,576,399.67
AND WHEREAS the Provincial Grant for the year 1958 is expected to be $170,000.00
AND WHEREAS the Provincial Grant for 1957 was only $90,000.00, and in view
of the fact that the mill rate in School Area 12 is bec~ming more than the
property owners can bear, and in view of the increased Provincial grants
and the increased assessment; .'
BE IT RESOLVED that the requisition of the Board of Trustees of Public School
Area #2 for $Ï07,742.76 (to be raised by levy) for operations be returned to
the Board for further consideration to see if economies can be effected which
would reduce the total mill rate for Public School purposes in Area #2 to at
least the 1957 level. CARRIED

ing Township employees be increased as follows commencing January 1, 1958.
