Proctor and. Redfern advise the cost of increasing the capacity of West Rouge pumping plant to be $7,000.00. 10. Ajax. Pickerin~ and ~VhitbY Association for Retarded Children request Township grants or School Section or Area grants to equal the Provincial grant. Of the 16 children attending, 8 are from Pickering TO~"l1ship. 11. Our Solicitors recommend that an action against the Town of Ajax be taken to the Supreme Court to force them to pay 50% of cost of Boundary Roads. 14. The Plannin2 Bòard met on October 11, 1957, heard 4 planning consult- arts and:passe~ the following motion: "That this Board recommend to Council that they seek to arrive at a suitable arrargemert with the firm of Project Planning Associates Limited for the zoning of the Township and if this is not possible, the secord choice would be Proctor and Redfern, but that COill1cil should define more clearly the terms of reference." The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard. 1. Mr. Godson, Engineer, who submitted proposed road programme for 1958. 2. (a) Fire Chief Lynde recommended that a Fire Area be set up in south east part of Township, south of Highway 401 and estimated the Capital Cost necessary would be $3,300.00. Assessment $ 438,670.00 Population 640 Acres 2000 Present operating mill rate 1. Estimated operating mill rate 3. or $1,316.00 Estimated Capital Cost 3,300.00 Estimated Capital Cost mill rate 7.6 Hr. Taylor of Pickering Beach agreed as to area but thought the cost of equipment might be only $2,500.00. (b) Chief INnde asked for certain Fire Hall improvements. RESOLUTION ~~fBER 193 MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by }!r. Pugh, that Clerk prepare a By-Jßw to set out a new Fire Area comprising all the land from Highway 401 to Lake Ontario and the Town of Ajax to the Township of Whitby. CARRIED RESOLUTION NIDfBER 194 ~lOVED by }fro Ste\vart, seconded by ~fr. Pugh, that Chief Lynde be authorized to have the following improvements made to the East Woodlands Fire Hall. 1. Change the thermostat so that office \vill be kept warm. 2. Board up the back door. 3. Remove added earth dumped on septic tank bed and level bed to proper depth, put top soil on same and grass. 4. Put extension on heating duct. CARRIED RESOLt~ION N~fBER 195 MOVED by Mr. JuliaJ'l, seconded by ~Ir .Stewart, that Garbage truck employees be supplied witJl glòves. CARRIED RESOLUTION NIDfBER 196 MOVED by Mr. Julian, seconded by }fr. Pugh, that our Solicitor be directed to COlnmence an action before the Supreme Court against the Town of Ajax to secure 50% of the cost of building and maintaining boundary roads, as recommended by them. CARRIED RESOLTITION ~~mER 197 MOVRD by Mr. Scott, seconded by Hr. .Julian, that representatives of all four planning consultar.ts who met the Planning Board, meet Council on a night other thar;, a regular meeting night. HOTION LOST - 3 - RESOLUTION NUMBER 198 MOVEÐby Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Lawson, (who had vacated the Chair to Deputy-Reeve Scott), that Council meet Project Planning Consultants next Monday night to discuss Township planning and that Mr. Bonsfield meet Council at the following regular meeting. . CARRIED P-ouncillor Pugh reported he and Councillor Chapman had attended the meeting in Buttonville on October 19th re gravel pits; that each Council is asked to appoint one member to form a Committee who, with a Solicitor, will present a brief to Queen's Park; and that each Council direct their appointed member on policy it wishes to pursue. RESOLUTION NUMBER 199 MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. James, that Councillor Pugh be appointed a member of the joint local Municipal gravel pit Committee. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 200 MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. to the $65,000.00 School Area No.2 Council. Pugh, that Council give two readings debenture By-Law at next meeting of CARRIEÐ RESOLUTION NU}IBER 201 ~OVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Scott, that Assessment Commissioner and Clerk bring in a recommendation for Typist appointment at next meeting of Council. CARRIED Clerk's Instructions 1. Write or telephone all School Secretaries who have failed to answer request for grant to Retarded Children's School. 2. Mr. Godson and Clerk recommend to Council needed regulations re gravel pits. 3. Try to arraljge $3,300.00 financing for fire equipment in south east Pickering over three or five year period without debentures.
