HomeMy WebLinkAboutAugust 12, 1957 M U N I C I PAL BUILDING BROUGHAM A Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the TWELFTH day of AUGUST, 1957, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening. PRESENT: W. G. Lawson, in the Chair J. S. Scott Sidney S. J. Pugh Edgar James J. S. Chapman Glenn Julian D. J. Piitz, Treasurer 1. Mr. John Koranys, of Independent Mutual Benefit Society, asked for permission to build a summer cottage on their property in Concession 2, Lot 17. RESOLUTION NUMBER 138 MOVED by Mr. Chapman, seconded by Mr. Julian, that the Independent Mutual Benefit Society be allowed to build a summer cottage on Lot 17, Concession 2, subject to the usual Township Building reg- ulations and Agreement. CARRIED 2. Mr. R. Godson discussed with Council the proposed By-Pass Road located in Lots 17 and 18, Concession 3, and it was agreed that a survey of tñe proposed road be completed in order that a more accurate cost could be determined. Patching and resvrfacing of parts of the Altona Road was discussed. NO ACTION Ridgewood Road - 3200 feet paving and drainage to bottom of hill discussed. NO ACTION Paving of Park Crescent Road was discussed at great length. RESOLUTION NUMBER 139 MOVED by Mr. Chapman, seconded by Mr. James, that Park Crescent Road be paved with cold mix. CARRIED 3. Council AGREED in general that Moore Road, between Highway 401 and Canadian National Railways be paved with cold mix. 4. On the departure'of the Reeve to attend a meeting of business men in Claremont, Mr. J. S. Scott, took the Chair. 5. On MOTION of Council, Mr. William G. Newman was heard. Mr. Newman requested that calcium be spread on Fairport Beach Road South. Mr. Newman also made inquiries as to Whether the Pickering Township Recreational Committee had been set up. Council advised Mr. Newman that it had, and that the first meeting of the Committee would be held on September 1957. 6. Motion to employ G. T. Horton to complete survey for proposed water system held over for full Council. 7. Garbage men working 60 hours per week or better requested fourth man. Held over for full Council and also a report on the standing of the Garbage Budget. 8. Marshall. ~fucklin and Monaghan asked Township to spread gravel on Chesterhill Subdivision. Letter from our Solicitors and copy of letter from Marshall, Macklin and Monaghan read to Council. Held for full Council. - '> - ... RESOLUTION NUMBER 140 MOVED by Mr. Jultan, seconded by Mr. Chapman, that a Kennel to Mr. H. J. Burrows' present location, Pine Ridge Road, be the new location, corner of Brock Road and Canadian Pacific Lot 18, north half, Concession 3. License be issued transferred to Railway tracks, CARRIED Lakeview Road from Maple Drive to Lake Ontario being used by people for all night parking causing disturbances. Held until next meeting for more information re road ownership. VED by Mr. Chapman, seconded by Mr. Julian, that the accounts, amounting to 1,804.05, as reported by the Police Committee, be adopted. CARRIED ERK'S !NSTRUCTIONS Instruct Mr. Ellicott to cut weeds on the six lots held by Township in Hough Subdivision. Prepare statement of expenditures to date re garbage collection. Budget standing.
