An Emergent meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the TWELFTH day of DECEMBER,
1955, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.
PRESENT: George T. Todd, in the Chair
Wm. G. Newman
Wm. G. Lawson

J. Sherman Scott
L. T. Johnston, Clerk
The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
~ 1. J. Lynn, President West Rouge Community Association. Petitinn of seven
owners immediately adjoining proposed Skating Rink east of Rouge Hills
Golf Club House requesting that a Permit be not grantèd for a Skating Rink.
> 2. H. H. Donald, Inspector Legal Offices, advising that he believes it
possible that a Traffic Court could be held at Pickering and Ajax Monday.
Clerk advise that I! hour per week not enough for both Municipalities
for Traffic Court and the question of Clerical Staff for this time would
be too expensive for time involved.
73. Proctor. Redfern and La~hlin - agreement for two railway crossings of
water mains under C. N. R. tracks at West Rouge.
MOVED BY Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Scott, that Reeve and Clerk sign
on behalf of Council. CARRIED
4. Applications for 1956 Garage Licenses:
(1) H. L. Davis, Concession 2, Lot 7
(2) Richard Whittington, Concession 6, Lot 13
(3) Bergman Construction, B.F. R.3, Lot 35
(4) Alvin Hooker, Concession 6, Lot 3
MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that the above four applications
for Garage Licenses for 1956 be approved. CARRIED
The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
>1. Mrs. Ufnal, President Rosebank Community Club, asked Council for assistance
in building a Skating Rink in Todd's field, of a size 150 feet by 75 feet.
Council agreed that they would endeavour to level with grader and that Mr.
Ruddy take levels and report to Council on December 13, 1955.
> 2. 1he Fire Area 1 Committee, composed of Messrs Comport, Skidmore, Thompson,
Hunt and Orchard discussed operation of their Department and agreed to
present their 1956 Budget in person to Council so that it could be discussed.
/ 3. T.ed Bennett asked if snow removal equipment had been stationed in southern
part of Township.
í 4. H. H. Moore advised Council that he had organized Canadian Power Squadrons
in Dunbarton and has a class of 13 to whom he gives instruction. He asked
Council to provide free rent once a week for his c1ass~ While Council con-
sidered this a worthy endeavour, they felt they could not provide a room and
directed Clerk to have Mr. Moore approach the School Board.
MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Council pay following accounts
for Fire Area No.1:

1 MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. ~~h, that all accounts for payment of Fire
Area No.1, as passed by the Committee in the past, be paid by the Treasurer and
that future accounts be listed under the monthly FINANCE report. CARRIED

CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS
1. Contact George Ellis to sod corner of Glendale and Glen Allen.
2. Contact Police Chief re laying charge against Burnett for his dog
biting Maloney child.
3. Contact C. Schwalm about dogs running at large in Woodlands.
.4. Advise Fire Area 1 Council paid Kerr Equipment account for $ 163.79
after investigation.
5. Advertise in Pickering News for one International Truck K 7 chasis,
or equivalent.
