An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the FOURTEENTH day of
NOVEMBER, 1955, at ~IGHT o'clock in the evening.

The following PERSONS, on MOTION were heard:
1. Mr. D. G. Huf"f, and his solicitor, Mr. Bowen, speaking for Highland
Creek Sand and Gravel Company, asked that some 17 acres owned and
occupied by them, be transferred from the Town of Ajax to the Township
of Pickering because their lands are cut off from the rest of the Town
of Ajax by the Duffin's Creek and there is no bridge available, so no
services can be secured from them and the Township of Pickering now
supplies all services they require. The present assessment is about
. 22,000.00.
Council agreed to get a report trom the Assessor, conside~ and advise
Mr. Huf"f of their decision.
2. Messrs. Christofersen and Arthur O'Connor, objected to Mr. Wilcox
having a Wrecking Yard license in south half of Lot 4, Concession 5,
as it depreciated the value 'of their lands.
Council agreed to hold up Wilcox and in.estigate.
The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. Mr. W. A. Price of Whitevale claimed that one of his horses was hurt by
a bullet while pasturing near his house on October 22, 1955, and asked
that his Veterinarian tees be paid.
As it was out ot season for hunting in the Township, it seemed that the
Game Co..ittee would not be respensible and the Township Council telt
there was no liability on their part.
2. T. M. Meore:
(1) Asked that Third reading be given By-Law giving Censmaers' Gas
right to operate in the Township, as it had passed a public
Hearing by the Munidpal Board.
(2) Advise that Council could mine or take trom Lake Ontario all
gravel they wished tor road improvement.
3. Mr. E. Edwards, Canadian National Railway, asking Council to pass
By-I,aw..·....ing part of sideline between Lots 34-35" Broken Front,
Range 3.
4. Frank S. Barclay, objecting to a Wrecking Yard lieense being granted on
lands south of his property in Concession 5, Lot 4.
5. Townshiu of MarkÞ.am, advising that they are recommending to the 1956
Couneil that they will pay their share ot putting hard top on Town
Line for 5/8 miles south ot Highway No.2 and they expect to improve
Tewn Line at Seebeck Hill this Fall.
6. McCullou£h and Button asking that Council pay damage. tor Gordon Birkett
car which was damaged while he was using sideline between Lots 16-17,
Con. 6, as our insurance company has denied liability. Cle~ deny
liability.

G. T. Goddard, asking that Council negotiate for water for him from
Scarborough Public Utilities Commission and he will pay the required
. 2.00 per foot on 200 feet frontage in cash.
A. Wbitt, A. Hallman. J. H. Hennin£s, objecting to Wilcox Wrecking Yard
at Coneession 5, Lot 4.
MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that four filing cabinets be
ordered by Clerk. CARRIED

CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS
1. Advise I. Sbu.ovich that road ditch will be done in 1955.
2. Advise Wilcox not to proceed with board fence for Wrecking Yard at
Concession 5, Lot 4, until further notice.
3. Contact Mr. Redfern re wiring of pumps.
4. Contact Manager Highland Creek Sand and Gravel Company for appointment
re roads.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2119 (Third Reading)
The Committ.e of the Whole on By-Law Number 2119 to authorize a franchise
agreement between the Corporation and the Consumers' Gas Company of Toronto,
arises and reports the By~Law as read.
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that the report of the Committee of
the Whole on By-Law Number 2119 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now
read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and
the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
On MOTION of Mr. Pugh, the meeting adjourned.
