Johnston, Clerk Brian Ruddy, Township Engineer. The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:- 1. Proctor, Redfern & Laughlin - advising that Owners' estimated frontage cost of water mains in West Rouge would be $2.72 per foot if paid at time of installation, and - Estimated cost of water at $26.00 per service is 36~ per 1000 gallons - cost of meters $~,OOO. - debenturized $300.00 per year or $28.00 per house, or 382~ per 1000 gallons - recommended meters be not installed for several years. 2. Township of Markham - advising they have no funds available to share cost of a black-top on Townline south of No.7 Highway this year. 3· Municipal Board - approval of $36,500. money by-law for S.S.No.7 new addition. 4. 5. Fines - Police Department - July $311.00 A.L.Laking, Chief of Police, asked that he be permitted to meet a committee of Council to discuss "Traffic". 6. w.s.Beefan} Rosebank Road, asked per.mission to erect his garage partly n ront of his house line. 7· Mrs. Daisy Tulk - letter in reply to advice that sœ will be held responsible for water that may back up on to the road due to her excavation operations. 8. Lea and Ra~ond - for Roxy Newman - re gravel pit Concession 4, lots 20, 2 . 9. Department of Education - advising they will require a resolution of Pickering Village Council approving certain of their School Section No.4 West lands becoming a part of School Area No. 2 by August 31st, 1955. 10. Scarborou Public Utilities Commission advising that the 6 propOSE serv ces for P cering Town ne east, be the maximum. AGREED Messrs Scott and Lawson approach Mr. Harrison. C. R. Wilcox - applying for a wrecking license on south half of Lot 5 Concession 5. 11. 12. Tenders were opened for installing the water mains on Rouge West, also for the service connections, and resulted as follows :- Meeting - Council - August 22.1955. Agreed the Clerk write the Authority for a report on Engineer's Report and advise Mrs. Creighton. Clerk ask Authority to at least get a corner of the creek blasted this year, so as to let Spring freshet away faster. R. w. Ashton, Pickering Beach, asked that "NO Parking" signs be erected on both sides of Powell Road and Shoal Point Road betwel Range Line and Lake. As the By-law provides for no parking on these roads for 300' from Lake north, Mr. Ward was asked to erect more signs, and the question of extending the zone was left until the "Traffic Committee" had met with the Chief Constable. Mr. C. R. Wilcox - re Wrecker's License, Concession 5, Lot 5. Mr. Goslin advised Council that his supplementary assessment notice, according to Mr. Hunter of the Department of Municipal Affairs, was legal but not in good form, and that he is having the form changed. He also stated that Mr. Binsted had served his six months probationary period, that he was well satisfied with him and asked that his salary be increased as of July 1st, 1955. ~~. D. Redfern discussed the waterworks system as proposed and assisted with tenders. Mr. Kaskiv asked information re building deposits for houses he is building. It was agreed that Mr. Kaskiv keep on deposit 5 $300. deposits while building 10 houses. Mr. Wozney asked questions re West Rouge water supply. Mr. De Brisay - for Chesterhill Development Corporation - stated he would give the Township a letter approving the contracts let for installing mains and service connections. J. Britton of Canada Valve and Hydrants Co, of Brantford, discussed his product - hydrants. MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that the tender of MARINO CONSTRUCTION COMPANY - $100,100.50 to instal a waterworks system as specified in the tender call for water for West Rouge, with asbestos pipe be accepted, and the Reeve and Clerk be authorized to sign a contract for same and that the Engineers advise the Contractor of this motion. CARRIED. MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded bl Mr. Pugh, that the tender of ELLINS Construction Company, for $2,504.40, to instal approximately 60 service[ connections as specified in the tender call, be accepted by this Council that the Reeve and Clerk sign a contract for same, and that the Engineers advise the contractor of this motion. CARRIED. MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. PUgh, that Chas. R. Wilcox be granted a Wrecking License on approximately 30 acres in the north half of the south half of Lot'5 in Concession 5, subject to By-law Enforcement Officer's approval of board fence. CARRIED. MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Maurise F. Binsted be accepted as a full-time Assessor, and that his salary be increased from $2,600. to $2,700. as of July 1st, 1955. CARRIED. MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Scott, that all water services in Rouge Hills West be equipped with meters. CARRIED. AGREED that the Police Committee meet the Tòwnship o~ Pièkering Police Chief re traffic problems. Meeting - Council - August 22.l9~ Page N0.3. AGREED that the Building Inspector approve attached garages on dwellings in front of front dwelling line providing garage front is not closer to street than thirty feet. AGREED plastic water pipe satisfactory for private connections. CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS 1. Get approval of Chesterhill Development for contracts let re Rouge water. 2. Get prices on water meters. 3. Phone Mr. Colby re culverts. 4· Get approval from Department of Highways to enter Soden Gravel Pit from No. 7 Highway. 5. Phone Department of Highways re hole west end Rou~ bridge on No.2 Highway. 6. Ask Mr. Picov to remove fence across side line between lots 18 and 19, Broken Front Range 2. 7. Prepare Supplementary Works By-law for additional cost of installing mains, etc. 8. Accept R.
