Benham, Concession 3, Lot 12, asked permission to erect a cottage 11 feet by 24 feet on his park lands, to be used by himself and family during .....1JIler only. ~Dartment of Hi2hways advising that they will erect a sign "Frenchman's Bay Area" at LiverpoQl Road on No. 401 Highway. Clerk find out about Township liability. ~he following PERSONS on MOTION, were heard: 1. Edward Bennett re: (a) Road, Corner Glen Allen and Glendale. Engineer inspect. (b) Police - speeding on Glendale. (e) Street signs - not erected - Clerk advise Bennett when received. 2. Norman C.BeDbam. Concession 3, Lot 12, asked permission to erect a summer cottage. 3. Road Superintendent, re roads and salary. - 2 - 4. Dele2ation. Harwood Drive, re sanitation. 5. Mr. Monk. demonstrating fans. MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Newman, that 200 feet west of 100 feet west, and 78 feet east of 100 feet east of Whitevale bridge be paved by Miller Paving when the County pave the bridge floor and 100 feet on either side. CARRIER MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that the salary of Roy Ward be increased from J3,500.00 to $ 4,000.00, as of January 1, 1955. CARßIED MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Mr. Benham be permitted to build oae summer cottage 20 feet by 24 feet on his land at Concession 3, Lot 12, under a signed agreement that it will only be lived in by himself and family, for summer months. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Newman, that four fans for office be purchased fr Mr. Monk at"l: 30 each. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, that a grant of $ 25.00 be given Canadian Red Cross Society, Pickering Township Branch to transport crippled children to swimming olasses. CARRIED Reeve Todd asked Council if they would re-consider paying part of $632.00 survey fee charged W. O. Bennett. Council took no action. CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS 1. Call Jack Howard. Advise signing of proposed pipe line levels on Scarborough Town Line delayed several days. ~ 2. Contact Stanley Mann re Township ditch filled by Horack and flooding Township road, and advise hi. that Beachview Avenue not in shape to take over, and culverts not to Township specifications. )3. Ask Dr. Loos to inspect Matt's Grill. ,4. Ask Roxy Newman what price he would offer for tree, gravel and sand rights on south half sideline between Lots 20 - 21 in Concession 4. ,5. Order ten steel signs "Discharge of Fire Arms prohibited. By Order Council, Township of Pickering". ) 6. Get maximum legal tine limit for speeding. 7. Have Mr. Ruddy report findings re Polanyi, drainage to Mr. Moore. 8. Have a Council member open Legion Park S'umday, July 31, 1955.-/~ ~9. Get appointment for Council to meet Markham Township Council August 2, 1955. BY-LAW NUMBER NUMBER 2103 (Third Reading) The Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2103 to prohibit the discharge of fire arDIS"wi thin a defined area arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that the Report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2103 to prohibit the discharge of fire arms within a defined area be adopted, and that the said By-Law be read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. ~ CARRIED ~ I 0 ~ BY-LAW NUMBER ~ (Two Readings) Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Towns er Pickering to restrict the speed of vehicles in Plan 509, and that same now be real first time. Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that By-Law Number 2104 to restrict the spe' of vehicles in Plan 509, be new read a second time, and that Council go into Committ, of the Whole thereon.
