An EMERGBNT MEETING ot Council was held on Monday, the Eleventh
day ot July, 1955, oommencing at eigbt o'clock in the evening.
PRESENT:

The tolloving CORRlSPONDBlCE vas read :-
1. L. A. Beattie, tor the Deputy Minister ot Education, approving
By~law ~..2095 creating School Area No.2.
2. H.k.Newman, asking Council to relieve the tarmers ot Police
and Fire rates. No action.
3. Outstanding taxes - 1953 and prior
1954
4. Depart.ent ot Transport advising that borings at Frenchman's
Bay have no special signiticance at this time.
5. Department ot Tra..port advising they will replace buoy at
French..n's Bay gap.
6. Township. ot Markham, advising that', they are not in a financial
poaitio. to assist in paving six-tenths ot a mile ot Townline
south ot No.7 Highway.
7. Dr Loos, aciri.s1ng that San Valley Park vater tests goed.
-~"'8. Wells Ritchie .sking Council to post ·30-mile per hour·
speed signs in Whitevale.
The toll~ng PBRIONS were H~A~:-
1. Township road men asked:-
(a~ Increase in rate ot pay from .1.10 per hour to .1.25
per hour.
(b) Time and a halt tor overtime over 55 hour week.
(c) That regular working hours be not reduced when overtime
worked, that is, it ..ked to work on Sunday, they be not
asked to lay ott M~ay.
2. W.H.J.Tb..p.on asked Council to d...nd a police enquiry by
the Attorney General.
3. Ted Bennett asked Council to tix the Glendale corner.
4. Mr. Osterhout· stated he was not satistied with the tence-
viewers' aw.rd against Henderson.
MOYBD by Mr. N....n, seconded by Mr. Scott, that the rate or pay
tor the Road .en be increa.ed trom 11.10 to .1.20 per hour as ot
July 1st, 1955. CABBIED.

By-law No.2l02 continued:
Mr. W.G.Lawson, seconded by Mr. S.S.Pugh, moves that By-law Number
2102 to amend By-law Number 2095 providi~K tor Township School Area
Number 2, be now read a second time and Council go into Committee or
the Whole thereon.
The Committee ot the Whole arises and reports the By-law as read.
Mr. W.G.Lawson, seconded by Mr. J.S.Scott, moves that the Report ot
the Committee ot the Whole on By-law Nuab~r 2102 be adopted, and that
the said By-law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
the Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be atfixed
thereto. CARRIED.
CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS:-
1. Write the County of Ontario Federation ot Agriculture asking
if farmers in general would approve a by-law requiring
unoccupied lands to be fenced.
2. Advise Thomas Allen he may attend the n.at Planning Board
meeting to be held on July 22nd, 1955, at 9 p.m.
3. Ask George Ellis to secure 25 yards till tor Police Station
to level for sodding under his direction - possibly Frank
Barkey.
On MOTION of Mr. S.S.Pugh the meeting then adjourned.
