Newman Wm. G. Lawson Sidney S. Pugh J. Sherman Scott Lloyd T. Johnston MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, that Minutes of previous meeting held June 1, 1955, be adopted. CARRIED MOVED BY Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, that Minutes of previous meeting held .June 13, 1955, be adopted. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Minutes of previous meeting held June 17, 1955, be adopted. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Minutes of previous meeting held June 27, 1955, be adopted. CARRIED Minutes of June 29th not yet prepared. The following CORRESPONDENCE was read: 1. Thornhi.ll and District Association for Retarded Children soliciting grant. The Township has one ohild attending and parents pay ~.OO monthly when possible. 2. K. Schtmovich, Concession Broken Front, Range 3, Lot 28, thought the Road Department had changed the watercourse onto his five acres. Mr. Ward claimed Mr. Schumovich òanked the natural course and tried to force it north around the corner of Concession 1 and east. Council agreed to try and lower north ditch so it would go around by road. 3. A netition of eight ratepayers at east end of Dunbarton Shores asked Council to assist them in keeping lake sand off their road. Council agreed to let grader go in at nominal rate, but Mr. Ward thought they required a bulldozer. Will discuss with Mr. Adams. 4. W. H. Westney, Township representative Pickering Township R. D. H. P., advising that the Authority had passed a Motion to employ Kilbourne Engineers to survey Duffin's Creek around No.2 Highway and Riverside, Province to pay 75% of cost of survey and R. D. H. P. 25%. The following PERSONS on MOTION were heard: 1. Mr. Jackson re "STAR" signs. 2. Mr. Morley re insurance. MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, that a grant of $ 100.00 be made to Thornhill and District Association for Retarded Children, for 1955. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Richard PUckrin, of Concession 3, Lots 5 and 6, Township of Pickering, be granted a Wrecker's License for 1955. CARRIED As Mr. C. E. Morley Claimed he had made satisfactory arrangements with Miss A. E. Richardson whereby he would issue all insurance policies except Bonding wIder one large volicy, it was MOVEQ by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Scott, that Treasurer pay Mr. MorleJ' ~116.22, which covers three year Policies on Buildings and contents and one yea] fleet and Fire Trucks. QARRIED - 2 - As Mr. C. E. Morley asked to be relieved as valuator on School Section No.7 appropriation for one acre of land for school addition, Council agreed to call in another valuator. Cancel· Agreement with Hungarian Camp, Concession 2, Lot 17, relative to its being a Fresh Air Camp. 2. Call George Ellis about sodding in front of Police Station. 3. Arrange appointment for Mr. John Gilpin to meet Police Commission July 15th re special Constable for Clark's Hollow. 4. Advise Real Estate Agents now trying to sell three Township lots in Martin subdivision that as one has been sold by the Treasurer, he will try to sell other two. Co < , 5. Advise Livestock Inspector that he should have proof that livestock was injured or killed by dogs before he submits a report for payment. 6. Get report on all swimming pools for C01U1Cil re Guards , chlorination, water-cha] - 5 - Get report on ~forgan's, Graham's and Hibbert'·s pools from Dr. Loos, and have "Danger" signs posted if deep. Ask Department of Highways to post "Danger" signs on their property at Rouge. Ask T. M. Moore if Council can license swimming pools. Procure list of proposed signs for sUbdivisions. ·LAW NUMBER 2102 '(Two Readings) . , . \ Scott, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves for leave to introduce a B,y-Law of the 'poration of the Township of Pickering to prohibit the discharge of fire arms ,hin a defined area, and that same now be read a first time. Scott, secnnded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law Number 2102 to prohibit the charge of fire arms within a defined area be now read a second time, and that .ncil go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
