PRESENT: George T. Todd, in the Chair William G. Newman William G. Lawson Sidney Pugh J. Sherman Scott Lloyd T. Johnston MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Ronald Smith be employed as an assistant assessor ror the Township of' Pickering as of' March 14 1955, that his salary be set at $2,700.00 per year sinoe he has had 2! years experience in Munioipal Assessment work, and that he be on probation fora two-month period. CARRIED AGREED that William Howard, ll4 Elgin Street East, Oshawa (Phone 39767) be employed to dynamite ioe block on Du~rin's Creek, under direction or Mr. Newman. BY-LAW NUMBER 2077 Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township or Piokering to designate certain lands within the Township of Piokering as greenbelt, and that same now be read a rirst time. Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that By-Law Number 2077 to designate certain lands within the Township or Pickering as "Greenbelt" be now read a second time and that Counoil go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr~ Newman, moves that the Report of the Committee or the Whole on By-Law No. 2077 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; åhat the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal or the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2078 Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Soott, moves ror leave to introduce a By-Law of' the Township of Pickering to levy a rate to oover cost of operation of the several rire departments, and that same now be read a First time. Mr. Newman, seoonded by Mr. Lawson, moves that By-Law Number 2078 to levy a rate to oover oost or operation or the several f'ire departments be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Newman, seoonded by Mr. Soott, moves that the Report of' the Committee or the Whole on By-Law No. 2078 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same and the Seal of the Corporation be afrixed thereto. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Newman, seoonded by Mr. Soott, that Counoil adjourn. CARRIED . . . Clerk APPROVED ~ W 1955 . . . .
