An Em8rgent Meeting of Council was held on TUESDAY, the FIFTEENTH day of'
FEBRUARY, 1955, at EIGHT o'clook in the evening.

Request or South West Piokerin~ Fire Area that their area be inoreased
to include all lands west or Brock Road f'rom Lake Ontario to south half'
of Conoession 3.
TownshiD or WhitbY advising that they have supported the Township of
Piokering applioation to dissolve the Pickering-Whitby Townships Joint
Planning Board and have made applioation to the Department of' Planning
and Development to f'orm their own Board.

D. Goslin was asked by Counoil his reason for asking for release of ·
Duncan Spang. Mr. Goslin stated that on Mr. Spang's f'irst day he
noticed that he was hard of hearing, that during the period January
lst to January 24th it beoame increasingly evident that he was not
receptive to instruotion and did not seem to him to have qualifioations
for the making of' a good Assessor. Mr. Thompson reported to Mr. Goslin
that Mr. Spang's work was not satisfactory.
Mr. SDan~ claimed that Mr. Goslin g.ve Mr. Binsted more important work
to do and olaimed discrimination.
Mr. Re~an, who is crushing gravel in the Township pit asked to exchange
an unspeoiried number or yards or gravel with the Township f'rom his pits
at Soarborough and his O'Connor pit. Mr. Regan claimed that the direct
loading to Township trucks would save the Township l5¢ per yard plus
certain wear on roads. Council rerused the exohange. Mr. Regan agreed
to give Township 500 yards of' gravel to improve sideline between Lots
4' and 5 in Conoession 5.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2072

Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of
the Township of Piokerihg respeoting the control of Bruoellosis within the
Township of' Pickering in accordanoe with the provisions of' the Brucellosis
Control Act, 1953, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Pugh, seoonded by Mr. Lawson, moves that By-Law Number 2072 respeoting
the control of brucellosis within the Township of' Pickering in aooordance
with the provisions of the Bruoellosis Control Act, 1953, be now read a
sec8nd time and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.

The Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2072, having arisen, reports.
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that the report of the Committee of
the Whole on By-Law Number 2072 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now
read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and
that the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED

Mr. Lawson, seoonded by Mr. Pugh, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of
the Township of Picke~ing to regulate the use of land and the oharacter,
location, and use of buildipgs and struotures in Plans 489, 492 and 521,
and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law Number 2073 to regulate
the use of land and the oharacter, looation, and use of buildings and
structures in Plans 489, 492 and 521 be now read a seoond time and that
Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole, having arisen, reports.
Mr. Lawson, seoonded by Mr. Pugh, moves that the Report of the Committee of
the Whole on By-Law No. 2073 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read
a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the
Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2074
) Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of
the Township of Pickering to repeal part of By-Law Number 2048 (appointment
of Assessors), and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that By-Law Number 2074 to repeal
part of By-Law Number 2048 be now read a second time, and that Counoil go
into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that the report of the Committee
of the Whole on By-Law Number 2074 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be
now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same,
and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
On MOTION of Mr. Newman, the meeting adjourned.
