HomeMy WebLinkAboutJanuary 24, 1955 MUNICIPAL BUILDING BROUGHAM An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on MONDA.Y, the TWENTY -FOURTH day of' JØtJARY, 1955, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening: PRESENT: George T. TOdd, in the Chair William G. Newman William G. Iawson Sidney Pugh J. Sherman Soott Lloyd T . Johnston The f'olloving PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard: 1. Mr. Korbich asked permission to renovate his 17 foot by:lOO feet ? turkey house on Broken Front, Range 3, Lot 24, to a residence. As the Building Inspector would not approve such renovation, Counoil agreed that no permit should be issued Mr. Korbioh for the renovation. 2. Mr. Allan Bath asked for a Taxi License to operate with Ralph Iarrabee. Council believed there to be sutf'icient Taxi Lioenses now, and agreed 7 to issue a license to Mr. Bath ~ as the Polioe Chief' had approved his applioation, but that Ralph Larrabee should receive one lioense only. 3. Mr. Goslin, Assessment Commissioner, stated that Duncan Spang, was very ì hard of hearing and that he was not getting the proper information while assessing. As Mr. Spang is still serving his probationary period, Counoil direoted Mr. Goslin to ask Mr. Spang for his resignation. The f'ollowing CORRESPONDBNCE was read: 1. Rosebank-Rouge Community Club aSked permission to erect f'our signs. Clerk to get more information. :> ., 2. De1'artment of Planniu and Deve).opment, acknowledging receipt of letter asking that they approve Township of Pickering Planning Board. 1 3. Murray Jones, Secretary Metropolitan Planning Board, thanking Counoil f'or his good reception. '} 4. Venohiarutti and Venchiarutti, advising they are prooeeding with Zoning B1t::LAW of Industrial Area. Clerk advised to submit By-Law to T. M. Moore. ., 5. Toronto Industrial Co-ission - Annual Meeting February 2, 1955. .., 6. Ontario Count usual grant of > MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seoonded by Mr. Scott, that Chief Hill·s submission ¡r-¡-1,278.30 for furniture for new Police Building be accepted. CABØIKD ), HOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Newman, that William Jackson's ~ Agree.ent with Township in respect to looking after Township Dump be terminated as of' February 28th, 1955, and that he remove all his effeots from the Dump by that date. CARRIED 1 HOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that a grant of' . 25.00 be given to Ontario County Soil and Crop Improvement Association for 1955. CABRIBD MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that no cabins be permitted .., . in Cedar Glen Park. CARRIED ) A.GREED that 1955 Federation of Agriculture tax rate be .5 Mills. A.G:BBED that Levi Hopkins clean up debris in Rouge River at . 1.25 per hour 1 and mile,ge, and that he use about five unemployed men at 75¢ per hour for an expected 2 - 3 week period. Mr. Hopkins to contact owners for permission to enter on lands. - 2 - CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS 7 1. Advise all proposed members of Planning Board of appointment. ;:r 2. Prepare By-Law to take over John Usaty subdivision road. ? 3. Advise Proctor, Redfern and Laughlin to act f'or Tewnship on prepesed Rouge West waterworks. 7 4. Contact Markham. Township re road mileage, assessment# population, and Provinoial road appropriation. ~ 5. Make appointment for Messrs. Newman, Scott and Lawson with Department of Highways Minister. ~ 6. Advise Mrs. V. Morgan that we will not require her building for Police after February 28, 1955. BY-LAW NUMBER 2054 (Third Reading) The Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2054, to extend for a r further five year peried the Township of Piokering Crown Game Preserve, have arisen and reperts: Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that the Report of the CoDllDittee er the Whole on By-Law No. 2054 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be new read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be atrixed thereto. CABRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2064 ) Mr. Lawson, seoonded by Mr. Soott, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to amend By-Law Number 2019 (t68,000.00 Debenture, S. S. 2), and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law Number 2064 to amend B.y-Law Number 2019, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole have arisen and reports. Mr. Newman, seoonded by Mr. Pugh, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2064 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal or the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2065 ~ Mr. Newman, seoonded by Mr. Pugh, moves f'or leave to introduoe a By-Law or the Township of' Piokering to take over roads in Plans 558 and 507, and the road into School Seotion 18 Sohoolhouse in Broken Front, Range 2, Lot 34, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that By-Law Number 2065 to take over roads in Plans 558 and 507, arid the road into School Seotion 18 Schoolhouse in Broken Front, Range 2, Lot 34, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of' the Whole thereon. Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that By-Law Number 2068 to appoint members to the Rouge Duf'fin Highland and Petticoat Conservation Authority, be now read a Second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Coumittee of the Whole has arisen and reports. Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that By-Law No. 2069 to appoint a Member to the Pickering District High Sohool Board, be now read a second time and that Counoil go into Committee of' the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole has arisen and reports. Mr.- Scott, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that the Report of' the Committee of the Whole on By-Law "No. 2069 be adopted, and tàat the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal of the Corporation be aff'ixed thereto. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2070 Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves f'or leave to introduoe a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to appoint members to the Township of Pickering Planning Board, and. that same now be read a first time. - 4 - Mr. Scott, seoonded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law Number 2070 to appoint- members to the Township of' Pickering Planning Board, be now read a seoond time, and that Council go into Committee of' the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole has arisen and reports. Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that the Report of' the Committee of the Whole on By-Law Num ber 2070 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal of' the Corporation be affixed thereto.
