TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING
COUNCIL - PLANNING BOARD MEETING
A jeint meeting of Pickering Township Council and Planning Board
was held on TUESDAY. the FOURTEENTH day of JULY, 196~, at the
Municipal Buildi~g, Bro~gham.

Mr. Higgs explained that the Authority had approved the purchase
of l54~165 acres plus 26. acres water lots from W. H. Moore Estate
in Lots 28. 29, 30. on Lake Ontario. with 3350 feet lake frontage,
for $a~5.4l2.50. subject to the approval of the Metro Council of
Toronto, who are proposing to pay 50% of the cost with the Province
of Ontario paying the other 50%. Title of property would lie with
the Metro Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. but operated
by the Metro Toronto Parks Commission, and that the Township would
maintain roads to such park unless other agreements are reached.
He felt that if Council objected to such purchase, the matter would
drop.
Mr. Higgs stated that Metro Toronto and Region Conservation Authority
had no funds for this purchase hence the agreement beteen Metro
Toronto and Province, and that all their capital funds were being
used to purchase flood lands as timing would permit. He could'
foresee that Lawrence Ave. would be Joined to Base Line Road.
There was considerable discussion with three definite approvals.
Messrs. Wank, Ritchie and Smythe.
It was AGREED that the Reeve should contact Mr. W. W. Gardhouse.
Clerk of Metro Toronto, to arrange for a delegation from Council
to meet their Board at their next meeting. .
On MOTION of Mr. Newman, the meeting adjourned.
