De artment of Hi hwa s of Ontario advises that in its opinion See 10n 469 7 of the un1c1pal Act empowers Pickering Town- ship to purchase a gravel pit in Uxbridge Township, and it is eligible for subsidy from them. No Action. 2. Councillor D~akin recommends that Council endorse a petition taken in Bay Ridges asking Bell Telephone to include the Dunbarton Exchange in the Toronto Area. The change in rates would be: r· . Bell Telephone representatives feel that a petition of 75% of all users in the Dunbarton exchange should sign before application made to Board of Transport Commissioners. See ResolutionN~ 360/63. 3. Township Engineer recommends acceptance of J. Burrows tender õf $5,768.00 for garbage truck chassis. See Resolutio~ No. 361/63. 4. Department of Hi~hways of Ontario approves Road Department transfer of funds. 5. Ontario Municiïal Board advises Wasyluk's 21 acres in Concession B.F. R.a, Lot 9, assessment reduced from $3,190.00 to $1.250.00 for 19~2 assessment. Judge had previously reduced ,it from $~.375.00 to $3,190.00. 6. Ontario Water Resources Commission reports o~ pollution of 'Duffin's Cre-ek. Condition good except below Stouffville and Ajax sewage disposal plants, 7. Ontario Parks ~t.;ration Board will discuss Township's Resolution No.~3~~63 re Development Road to Metro Conservation Parks in the Township at their next meeting. 8. Canadian National Railway advises they cannot permit a ,~rossing For Mr~ L. Galvin in West Rouge as such location would-We dangerous. 9. Dewers, of Ontario Water Resources Commission offers Township $1500.00 to rectify certain shallow sewer services in West Rouge, and claims their consultant, Proctor & Redfern, did a good job and any errors may have been caused through a mis- understanding with Township Engineer T. O. Jefferson. Mr. Poulsson disagrees with Mr. Dewers and asks Council's direction. Clerk get our Solicitors' opinion. The following PERSONS, on MOTrON, were heard: 1. MOVED by Mr. Deakin. seconded by Mr. Spang, that John Williams, of ~ay Ridges, be heard. CARRIED Mr. Williams asked Council to endorse Bay Ridges petition to have the Dunbarton Telephone Exchange changed to Toronto area. that they had a petition of 200 names of the 2283 (plus) users on Dunbarton exchange; that 97% of employees in Bay Ridges find employment in Metro Toronto;that such telephone services would help get industry,that free calling would increase from 18,000 to 698,000 phones, and this service could be provided by 1966 or 1967. Secondly, Mr. Williams discussed the Goldenberg Report~ 2, MOVED by Mr. Greening, seconded by Mr. Deakin. that James Hayes be heard. CARRIED Mr. Ha~es asked Council's approval to erect a bus shelter on Base L1ne at Liverpool Road b, the Dunbarton Lions Club. He also stated they proposed to erect one on Highway 2. As the erection was to be on a County Road, Council told Mr. Hayes they had no jurisdiction. RESOLUTION NUMBER 359/63 MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that the attached design be adopted as the official crest of the Township. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 360/63 MOVED by Mr. Deakin. seconded by Mr. Wank, that this Council endorse the petition of the Bay Ridges Ratepayers' Association in their effort to have the Du~barton Bell Telephone Exchange included in the Toronto free calling area. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Wank, that the report of the Standing Committee on SANITATION recommending payment of accounts in the amount of $2.581.42. be adopted. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Deakin. that the report of the Standing Committee on PUBLIC UTILITIES recommending payment of accounts in the amount of $5,616.50. be adopted. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that the report of the Standing Committee on BY-LAW ENFORCEMENT recommending payment of accounts in the amount of $978.27, be adopted. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2838 Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Mowbray. moves for leave to ffitpodaCè a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to appoint a member to the Pickering District High School Board for a three year term (Burnett Jamieson), and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves that By-Law Number 2838 to appoint a member to the Pickering District High School Board for a three year term be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Deakin. seconded by Mr. Greening, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2838 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; tnat the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
