PRESENT: J. Sherman Scott. in the Chair Mrs. J. McPherson Harvey Spang Milton Mowbray John Greening Ross Deakin Hubert Wank L. T. Johnston. Clerk The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered: 1. Mr. Robert Duck submitted a report on need for more office help in the Road Department. See Resolution No. 238/63. 2. Canadian National Institute for the Blind asks permission to canvass Township for funds August 23 to September 7. See Resolution No. 237/63. 3. The Village of Stouffville now has a tank truck to carry extra water to fires, and is a complete unit. The Village asks if Council agreeable to the use of this truck at $20.00 per call, plus wages of several men. See Resolution No. 235/63. 4. Ontario Municipal Association Convention - Kingston. August 25 to 28. 5. E. J. Hilts. of Attorney General's Department. recommends that protective devices be placed at railway crossings where fatalities occur. 6. Township of Markham advises of Ontario Municipal Board hearing which would prohibit gravel pits in the Township except at two presently used locations and a revision of their Official Plan. 7. Township of Scarborough advises of Ontario Municipal Board hearing which would decrease the size of agricultural homes on a lot abutting Pickering Town Line from 1500 to 1200 square feet. 8. Separate School Inspector Weiss advises that the Department of Education has approved a new Separate School Section to include area three miles from a point on Brock Road two miles south of Brougham and it will be a union separate school section with Pickering Village Separate School. 9. Department of Hi~hways approval - tractor mower & post hole digger for Road Department. _ 18,000 gals. R.S.2. Emulsion, and Hot Mix. _ has assumed by registration that portion of Pine Ridge Road lying between proposed C. N. R. and Highway 2. 10. Ontario Municipal Board has sustained assessment appeal of Miss Violet Swan for 1961. Miller pavin¡ appeal withdrawn. 11. Solici~ors submitted a new By~Law re Satok. , . The following PERSON. on MOTION. was heard: MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Greening, that Mrs. Gallagher be heard. CARRIED Mrs. Gallagher stated that she had made an agreement for the Township to place 20 loads of fill on her land at 48 Lakeview Avenue at Fair- port Beach several years ago, and to date the Township has taken no action. and she wanted the work done before fall rains. It was AGREED she send Clerk a copy of agreement and that he take matter up with Road Superintendent. . l t l l I I I I I I I I I I - 2 - RESOLUTION NUMBER 235 63 MOVED Y Mr. Deak~n, seconded by Mr. Spang. that Pickering Township Council agree to the additional equipment to be used by Stouffville Fire Brigade during fires in Pickering Township, and that the Township of Pickering pay the cost thereof as set forth in letter from the Clerk of the Village of Stouffville dated August 16, 1963. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 236/63 MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Wank, that the cost of in- stalling water main and sanitary sewer.toJservice the industrial land remaining in Township ownership after the sale to Supreme Aluminum Industries Limited be met, insofar as it cannot be oharged to abutting lands as a local improvement, out of the general rates as a cost of industrial promotion. CARRIED YEA: Messrs. Mowbray, Spang, Scott, Deakin, Greening, Wank, and Mrs. McPherson. NAY: None. RESOLUTION NUMBER 237/63 MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Greening, that Council permit canvassers of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind to canvass the Township for funds from August 23rd to September 7th. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 238/63 MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Deakin. that Mrs. C. Blake be employed full time in the Road Department at a salary of $2400.00 per year, commencing immediately. CARRIED ~ BY-LAW NUMBER 2'15 Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Greening, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the Reeve and Çlerk to sign an Agreement for the sale of certain lots in industrial area to Satok. and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves that By-Law No. 2415 to authorize the Reeve and Clerk to sign an agreement for the sale of certain lots in industrial area to Satok be now read a second time~ and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
