PRESENT: J. Sherman Soott, in the Chair Mrs. Jean McPherson Harvey Spang Edgar Jam s Harry Ashton H. Ross Hawthorne Miss Violet Swan L. T. Johnston, Clerk The following CORRESpONDENCE was read: 1. Kotice of County of Ontario Assessor's meetin£ in Whitby Court House Deoember 16, at 10 A. M. 2. City of St. Thomas asks Council to endorse their resolution to give Counoil members the same privileges as legislative members relative to Libel and Slander. See Resolution Number 345. 3. .' Current, 1959 last year 202,549.88 190,331.90 4. Resolution of Coqrt of Revision recøllllIÍen4\ing the write-off of collectable taxes amounting to $1625.19. See Resolution No. 344. The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard: 1. E. q. Baker requested the write-off of $1,625.19 uneolleotable taxe s . 2. Mr. Kenneth Pentland stated that he had $25.00 damage to his 1959 Ford several months ago due" to hitting a hole at corner of Toynevale and Rosebank Road. He claimed damages from the Township and the _Insurance A,djustor olaimed no liability. See Resolution No. 343. 3. Mr. Rednath, of Toynevale Road, objected to the length of time the Road Department took to instal a storm sewer in front of his lot, stating the fill is piled high 'in front of his lot, and very muddy. 4. &leve Scott. stated he had knowledge that the Metro Planning Board were prepared on ~cember 16th to .pprove that the route .""," of the C. Mr. Mesìer our representative to ~ætro Planning Board asked Council to giye them direction whe ther or not to approve the new proposed route. As Council were divided on the question, and as the exact proposed line was not known, Council recommended that the Reeve and Mr. Messer try to get a postponement of decision until Council could study a blueprint of such proposed line. RESOLUTION NmfBER 343 MOVED by Mr. Ashton, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that we silk for information from the insurance company with more detailed information as to their reasons for the cause of the accident to Mr. Pentland's car, and with their opinion of the liability involved. CARR~D RESOLtJT ION NmmER 344 MOYED by ~1r. Hawthorne,. seconded by t-fr. Ashton, that Council authorize Jfr. E. Baker to write off the list of taxe s as recommended by the Court of Revision on No.ember 6, 1959. CARRIED ... 2 - RESO~ION NUMBER 345 MOVED by Mr. Ashton, seconded by Mr. Spang, that we the resolution of the City of St. Thomas re Council the same pri,ileges as legislative members relative Slander do not endorse mambe rs having to Libel and CARRij!:D RESOWTION ~R 346 MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Ashton, that a by-law be prø?-·. pared to authorize the Clerk to sign permits to permit persons or municipalities to operate road equipment of greater width than 96 inches on Township roads. CARRIED .. BY-lAW ~R 2 57 Mrs. McPherson.. seconded'hy Mr. Spang, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to appoint a Road Superintendent in the Township of Pickering, and that same now be read a first time. Mi'ts. MCPherson, seconded by Miss Swan, moves that By-Law Number 2457 to appoint a Road Superintendent in the Township of Pickering be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mrs. MCPherson, seconded by Mr. James, moves that the report of the CODll1ittee ot the Whole on By-Law No. 2457 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the sallie, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
