Johnston, Clerk MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that Minutes of Meeting held October 13, 1959, be adopted. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that Minutes of Meeting held October 19, 1959, be adopted. Councillor Ashton t'êquested Township ,give a grant to "Pickering Youth Band" from Recreation funds, say $50.00. This Band operated ~ by Pickering Villa ge Police Chief and Mrs. Livingstone and sister - 61 members, 50% Township. Recreation Committee consider. 14. J. D. Remmer called at Clerk's office and asked that Council be reminded that when County took over the bridge on Church Street ~ north of Concession 3 it was called the "J.D. Remmer Bridge". As Mr. Remmer has lived beside this and two former bridges for 74 years, he hopes the name will be continued. Clerk so advise Mr. R. E. Sims. 15. The Plannin~ Board have referred an application for a consent by Mr. Gourlie for a 66 feet roadway approximately 400 feet long into v the proposed new High School at Dunbarton. Mr. Gour1ie is prepared to deed this lànd to the Township. See Resolution No. 320. RESOLUTION NUMBER 317 MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Miss Swan, WHEREAS By-Law No. 2383 provided expenditures according to the following: Construction Maintenance Roads Bridges, Culverts New Machinery Overhead $ 17,800.00 15,000.00 8,800,.00 4,600.00 $ 46,200.00 :$ 68,600.00 7.500.00 $ 76,100.00 Total $ 86,400.00 15,000.00 8,800.00 12.100.00 $122,300.00 " It is now found necessary to adjust these expenditures as follows: Construction Maintenance Roads Bridges, Culverts New Machinery Overhead $ 21,800.00 18,000.00 1,800.00 4,600.00 $ 46,200.00 $ 68,600.00 7,500.00 $ 76,100.00 Total $ 90,400.00 18,000.00 1,800.00 12,100.00 $ 122,300.00 CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 318 MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, Seconded by Miss Swan, THAT the following ~rants be made from the Recreation 1959 funds; as approved by the Recreation Committee: ., West Rouge Canoe Club,$500.00j Frenchman's Bay Softball Club - $50.00 - $550.00. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 319 MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Miss Swan, (re Smith, B.F.R. 2, Lot 21) that since it is the policy of Council in recent years not to sell road allowances, Mr. Lawson be advised that Council wish to maintain this policy. CARRIED ... RESOLUTION NUMBER 320 MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mi~s Swan, that the Council of the Township of Pickering accept deed to the 66 ft. by approximately 400 foot s,trip of land as offered by Mr. Gour1ie in Council Agenda of Nov. 9, 1959. CARRIED . 3 RESOLUTION NUMBER 321 MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Miss Swan, that Council do not endorse tha Resolution of the Township of Trafalgar recommending that "30 miles per hour" signs be placed only on the fringes of large subdivisions. CARRIED fill' R~SOLUTION NUMBER 322 MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. James, that this Township purchase the 20 ft. watercourse from Mr. Robt. Balsdon on the South side of Commerce St. for the sum of Twenty-five ($25.00).. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 323 MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Spang, that the Road Superintend- ent be authorized to purchase the following, subject to the approval of the Department of Highways of Ontario: "" ... CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 324 MOVED by Miss Swan, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, Mr. Cane be requested fill' for a more full report on problems in Minutes 20 of November 2nd before any action taken passed deadlines provided. W. Hough, the Treasurer "" be authorized to pay Mr. Hough the sum of $622.26, being the taxes paid by Mr. Hough on such lots since they became assessed as lots. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2449 Miss Swan, seconded by Mr. ttawthorne, moves for leave to introduce a By- Law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of $750,000.00 upon debentures for High School purposes, and that same now be read a first time. Miss Swan, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves that By-Law Number 2449 to authorize the borrowing of $750,000.00 upon debéntures for High School purposes be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. ." The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Miss Swan, seconded by Mr. James, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2449 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2450 Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. James, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to appoint places for receiving votes and Deputy Returning Officers to preside thereat for the 1959 Municipal Elections and that same now be read a first time. Mr, Spang, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves that By-Law Number 2450 to appoint places for receiving votes and Deputy Returning Officers to pre- side thereat for the 1959 Municipal ~lections be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. e/ The Co~ittee of the Whola arises and reports the By-Law as read. 4 By-Law No. 2450 - Continued Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2450 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and thé Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. James, that the Report of the ~ ROAD AND BRIDGE COMMITTEE of accounts in the amount of $30,181.40, as ;ust presented, be adopted. CARRIED INSTRUCTIONS 1. Councillor Spang see Mr. Gerigs re disposal of small dead animals. 2. Mr. Chapman report on (1) Pickering Beach Road protection at Bridge; (2) Costs of bringing private road off A1tona Road up to standard. 3. Clerk prepare deed Balsdon to Township, 20 feet for watercourse at ~ Frenchman's Bay. 4. Clerk prepare new watercourse By-Law so that By-Law 1312 is not repealed.
