LO. A. W. Care recommends that a complete stud~' be made by Council on all

11. Proctor and Redfern submitted a revised cost of water on proposed Frenchman's
Bay water area without an area mill rate ard to use up $134,400.00 of
$150,000.00 Crusader water grant in six years.

l2. Mr. Fred Beckstead asked that a By-Law be passed prohibiting fireworks being
sold 'to any person under lR years, and not before one week prior to May 24th.

'he following PERSONS, were heard, on MOTION:
1. Mr. Campbell and delegation asked Council to put forward objections to the
Canadian National Railways to show why presertl~' surveyed route of By-Pass
should not go through Dunbarton because of loss of assessmert, changes of
roads, etc.
? Messrs. Stevenson and Rawbon, of Rouge Hills Lions' Club, submitted a plan of
proposed Community Hall at East Woodlands. It would be 80 feet by 50 feet
- two floors, seat 150 people, cost $25,000.00, stone, brick}facing, No.2
Highway, with 75 foot set-back and they proposed to start ir 1959. Mr. Rawbon

~, Mr. Anderson, of Pickering Beach Ratepayers,Association, asked that all surface
water coming from Ajax, now running through Pickering Beach, be channelled to
to the lake alorg west side of Pickering Beach Road in Ajax lands. Mr.
Chapman stated he had figures on such a project, which would cost $3,000.00 if
all open ditch 6''''-8' deep, 24' at top and $5,000.00 if storm sewered to
Range Line. An Easement would be required.

4. Reeve Morlev, of Pickering Village, stated:
(1) That if Township would officially open northerly 700 feet of sideline
between Lots 12 and 13, his Village would maintain as in the past,
with Township maintaining first 1250 feet immediately north of
Highway 2 between Lots 12 and 13. The Township agreed that the
700 foot road be extended a further 33 feet south so as to give a
full 66 foot road entrance fDr Lincoln Street.
(2) That the northerly 1600 feet of Station Road immediately below
,Highway 2 be paved in 1959 with a 22 foot surface and that each
Municipality pay ope-half cost .
(3) That Mr. Little, of Project Planners, be asked to present his brief
or proposed Pickering Village annexation of part of the Township
as soon as possible. AGREED that both Councils meet Mr. Little
in Pickering Village Hall, Wednesday, April 29th, at 8 P. M.
5. Mr. Holder. Mr. Hominello and Mr. Kay and others of Chesterhill Subdivision
submitted a number of questions to Council.
(a) Objected to some owners pumping effluent from septic tanks into
Township ditches. This has been stopped by the Sanitary Inspector
and a copy of letter read by Reeve.
(b) Stated 25 home owners in their area had septic tank trouble. Reeve
stated a Sewage System cost had been prepared by our Engineers and
that each owrer with a 60' frontage would be charged $60.00 to .65.00
per year for 30 years, if plans adopted.
Engineer Jefferson stated he had made an inspection of the area, he
would get in touch with builders and show them a plan for temporary
drainage relief.
(c) Many cracks in cellar walls. Reeve stated all houses passed by
N.H.A. inspectors.
(d) Dogs running ip packs - but admitted much improvement in last several
weeks. ..
(e) Garbage COllectio~klY. Reeve stated rinancially impossible.
(f) Dangerous open excavation near school. By-Law Officer investigate
and report to Council.
(g) Municipal water coloured. Reeve stated when water loop completed
this would stop.
6. T. O. Jefferson gave a report on drainage around property of Mr. Obey on
Old Rosebank Road South. This would require changing culverts and easements
all of which would be done by Mr. Chapman and himself urder the road budget.

~ J. S. Chavrnar asked Council to release the new truck from Mills Motors and
set a rate for culverts.
~. Gordon Riehl, Township Auditor, presented the 1958 Audit report showing a
surplus of $4,359.85 on the year and an earned surplus of $75,602.88.

that althoulh this municipality is one of the few municipalities affected by
the By-Pass our representative was not informed or appointed to the

strongly oppose the proposed route of the Canadian National Railways By-Pass
t'hrough the Township, since this route cuts directly through that area of
the Township imminently scheduled for development as a built-up residential
area, and that said motion record reports of Planning Consultants and other
reports pertinent to this motion. CARRIED

the desirability of a six inch (6") watermain on Island Road east of Rouge
Hills Drive, be row read a second time, and that Council go into Committee
of the Whole thereon.
