A Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the SIXTEENTH day of FEBRUARY,
1959, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

MOVED by Miss Swan, seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, that Minutes of meeting
held February 9, 1959, be adopted. CARRIED
The following CORRESPONDENCE was read.
1. K. G. Hi~~s of Metro Conservation Authority would like to meet Council,
in special session, to explain their Department's plans for flood control.
Would like a choice of two dates set by Council by middle of March.
2. Metro Toronto Industrial Committee request Township to become a member
for 1959. Fee is $500.00.
AGREED that Mr. Willson be askeil to address our Courcil March 16th.
3. Metro Toronto advise W, G. Messer appointed as East Representative on
Metro Planning Board.
4. Cony of Resolution Town of Aiax that "Hr. Messer is not their represent-
at.ive on Metro Planning Board".
5. Mr. Little of Project Planning Associates Limited advises that restrictions
of lands car be accomplished in following manner:
1. Zonin~ By-Law
2. Official Plan
3. Subdivision Control
4. Agreement.
This is in answer to request of Professor La Brie re restrictions on land
around Concession 4 and Brock Road.
R. Ontario Traffic Conference seeking Township membership at $25.00.
Township not member before. Referred to Finance Committee.
7. Little.Theatre Grou~ requests Tòwnship to pay High School rental $75.00
ir advance for the staging of their play March 7th and payment to Samuel
French $25.00 for royalties.
R. Mrs. D. Crichton, Red Cross Society, requests grant from Township.
1958 grant '$100.00. Referred to Finance Committee.
9. Mr. Ber~man has withdrawn his objection to watermain on East Avenue
providing mair is laid 22 feet from his street line.
10. A. Axhorn objects to the conditions of Kennel license operated by his
r'ei~hbour, Wm. Fairgrieves. AGREED}w. Cane and Mr. Gerigs inspect.

Jack Chapman discussed road problems.
AGREED Mr. Chapman get costs of necessary land for bridge fill and
straightening of road south of Church Street ~ridge, north of Concession 3.
Get costs of a steam Jenny for February 23rd.
AGREED Mr. Higgs meet Council February 23rd or March 9th at 9 P. M.

No. 91043 Truck and sand box from Mills Motors for tendered price of
$~,780.70 sUbject to approval of Department of Highways. CARRIED

MOVED by Mrs. McPhersor, seconded by Mr. Ashtor, that Mr. Chapman purchase
six rain coats and hats for road men. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Ashton, secon~ed by Miss Swan, that invitations to Civic Dinner

MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mrs. HcPherson, that the Township hold
the Municipal Dil1ner at a date and place a~reed to by Council. CARRIED

RESOLUTION NUMBER 43
MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Miss Swar, that the Township pay in
advarce High School rental of $75.00 and payment of $25.00 to Samuel French
for royalties, said funds to come out of the Recreation Committee budget.

MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by tlr. James, that the Township Road
Superintendent proceed with the following work subject to the approval
of the District Municipal Engineer, Department of Highways:

MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Miss Swan, that ÞW. Chapman be allowed
to advertise for tenders for the purchase of the old grader. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2376
Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, moves for leave to introiluce a By-Law
of the Township of Pickering to amend By-Law Number 2090, which is an amend-
mert of By-Law Number 2077, which regulates huildings in "GreeT1belt" areas
ifl the Townshtp of Pickering, and that same }'10W be read a first time.
Mr. James, secof'ded by Hrs. McPherson, moves that By-Law Number 2376 to
amend By-Law Number 2090, which is an amenilmen-t of By-Law Number 2077, which
re~lates huildir'gs in "GreeT1belt" areas iT1 the Township of PickeriT1g, be
row read a secol1d time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole
thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.

Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves that the report of the Committee
or the \Vhole on By-Law No. 2376 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now
read. a Third time ard PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk si~n the same, and
tre Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
Reeve Scott reporteil negotiations with Crus~der progressing well but that
Dr. Berry of the Ontario Water Resources Commission was not satisfied with
locatiors of proposed sewa~e plant if the water intake is to be at Brock
Road. He agreed to send out his Engineers as soon as possible and submit
a report to Council.

1. Clerk chec1< resolutions re Brougham Commur.ity Association taking over
Township Hall.
