HomeMy WebLinkAboutMarch 14, 1966 MUNICIPAL BUILDIN~ " BROUGHAM A meeting of Pickering Township Council was held on MONDAY, the FOURTEENTH day of MARCH, 1966, at the Municipal Building, Brougham, at EIGHT o'clock p. m. PRESENT: C. W. Laycox, in the Chair Mrs. J. L. McPherson John Williams Ronald Chatten Donald Beer Harvey Spang Douglas J. Plitz, Clerk ABSENT: John Campbell MOVED by Mr. williams, seconded by Mr. Beer, that Mr. T. R. Van Houten, Chairman of School Board of Area No. 2 be heard. CARRIED The purpose of this meeting was to give Council the opportunity to ask questions with regard to the School Area's 1966 budget. Mr. Van Houten proceeded to explain the budget item by item and at the same time answer questions as they were put to him. He emphaaized that they, the School Board, were adequately providing education and were meeting the requirements of the Department of Education. There was no hope of reducing any of the budgeted figures and Council was satisfied with the explanations given. The presentation by Mr. Van Houten of the estimates was accepted by Council. An increase in the mill rate for school purposes for 1966 will be, Residential, 2.6: Commercial, 2.9. MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. R. Chatten, that 1966 budget, as presented by the School Board, School Area of $672,162.78, be accepted. /~ MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mrs. adjourn and go into Committee of the Council APPROVED 1966 "-- lerk df~/~ j
