Ashton to Council. Mr. W. Jansen, Oakwood Drive, bas asked for a Driving School License. Chief Parker has st.ted that he would suitably recommen~ if Council so approves a license, subject to the applicable By-Laws. See Resolution No. 223160. 2. Council members invited to official opening of new Simcoe Administration Buildin£ in Barrie Thursday, June 16th, at 2 p.m. Reso1ution, Townshin of toront~, asking our Council to endorse "That the Council of the Township of Toronto petition the Ontario Government for an amendment to the Municipality of Metro TorQnto Act, 1953, to make it clear that the Metro Toronto COUQcil will haYè no jurisdiction over the affairs of the Township of . Turk resignation as Treasurer and Office Manager, effective June 261 1960. See Resolution No. 225. ~ 10. - 2 - TownshiD Plannin~ Board advised they approved the Zoning By-Law for C. B. C. properties, as submitted by Project Planning Associates. The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard: 1. Mr. Walter Kerr submitted a brief on "Go-Karting" and again asked that his company, ttKarts of Canada Limited" be permitted to operate at Concession I, Lot IS, and that the'Township By-Law prohibiting , the racing of Go-Karts be repealed. See Resolution Number 219 and 222. Mr. Harold Fawcett, of Concession 2, Lot 18, also spoke in favour of Go-Karts. 2. 3. Mr. Lloyd Peters, of Claremont, submitted several folders ex- plaining the need for higher taxes, and thought Council could use such information to advantage. Approximate cost per folder, IO¢. 4· AGREED Public Relations ComDdttee discuss proposal. Mrs. Jean McPherson asked that a policeman be on hand at future Decoration days at Erskine Cemetery to direct traffic. RESOLUTION NUMBER 218/60 MOVED by Mr. Iaycox, seconded by Mr. Boyes, that Council have no objections to entering into a lease with Owl Realty Limited for that portion of the road allowance abutting Block "A", Plan 612, fronting on Island Road similar to that of the former owners of the Shopping Centre, Pasadena Construction Limited and Blue Rock Construction Limi te d. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 219/60 MOVElJ by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Laycox, that a by-law be presented to Council to regulate and license Go-Kart tracks in Pickering Township and that the anti-racing by-law be repealed. RESOLUTION NUMBER 220_60 MOVElJ by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. Iaycox, that the Fire Department of Claremont be authorized to spen~ an additional $1,000.00 (one thousand dollars) for the purchase of a Fire Tanker. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 221/60 MOVE}) by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Pickering endorse the Re solution Item 5 under Correspondence) Mr. Laycox, that the Township of of the Township of Toronto. (See CARRIED" RESOLUTION NUMBER 222/60 MOVEJJ by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Mr, Johnston be au~orized to contact all applioants for permission to operate Go- 1l Kart tracks in this Township, and to advise them that the by-law has been repealed, and that they are now at liberty to re-apply. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 223/60 MOVEJJ by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Council recommend to Chief" Parker of the Township of Pickering Police Department that Mr. Jansen be granted a Driving School License, subject to the laws governing this type of operation. CARRIEJJ RESOLUTION NUMBER 224/60 MOVE}) by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Spang, that the Township call locally for tenders for construction of foundations and electrical work for West Rouge elevated tank through advertisements in The Pickering News, The Ajax Advertiser, The Markham Economist and Sun, and the Stouffville Tribune. CARRIED RESOWTION NUMBER 225/60 MOVElJ by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Boyes, that the resignation of Mr. R. Turk, effective June 24th/60, be accepted. CARRIED - 3 - RESOLUTION NUMBER 226/60 fOVED by Mr. JJeakin, seconded by Mr. Boyes.. that the account of 724.10 for supplies for Fire Area No.5 be paid. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2517 Mr. Hawthorne secon4ed by Mr. Deakin, moves for leave to intro4uce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to amend By-law Number 1909 by adding thereto certain streets on which parking is prohibited{ and that same now be read a first time. (Frenchman's Bay Streets) Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Boyes, moves that By-law Number 2517 j to a.mend By-law Number 1909 by adding thereto certain streets on which parking is prohibited, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Boyes, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves that By-Law Number 2518 to appoint a Board of Management for the Claremont Community Memorial Athletic Field and Park, and the Claremont Community Hall, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. BY-LAW NUMBER 2519 Mr. Ross Deakin, seconc1ed by Mr. Hawthorne, moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of Pickering to provide for the grouping of staff within the various departments and to repeal By-Law Number 2474, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. laycox, moves that By-Law Number 2519 to provide for the grouping of staff within the various departments and to repeal By-law Number 2474, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Deakin, secon4ed by Mr. Spang, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2519 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
