PRESENT: J. Sherman Scott, in the Chair H. Ross Hawthorne Harvey Spang Harry W. Boyes Ross Deakin Clifford Laycox L. T. Johnston, Clerk Reeve Scott called the meeting to discuss the purchase of ten (10) acres of land in Lot 19, ;Concession Range 2, for a waterworks site. The Clerk reported he had contacted Mr. Alex Picov and offered to purchase such site for the Township at a price of $2,000.00 per acre, which had been refused with the best acceptance being $5,000.00 per acre for 39 acres; that is, the Picov's would retain the buildings and one acre of land. Messrs. Picov stated they did not wish to sell: that Council could not expropriate for private interests; that they intended to build a factory and required raw water from lake. Reeve Scott then suggested that Council purchase 10 acres 20 rods wide against Brock Road, leaviag the Picovs 20 rods lake frontage. This seemed to suit the owners better, who promised to quote an asking price to the Reeve on Monday, March 28th. RESOLUTION NUMBER 119/60 MOVED by Mr. Boyes, seconded by Mr. Spang, that we defer action on the by-law, expropriation of Picov property, until Monday, 28th of March. CARRIED On MOTION of Mr. Hawthorne, the meeting adjourned. APPROVED ~.~ r 1960 Cle rk
