D.~,wrY, who operates a Taxi Stand in Ajax applied for a Township· of Pickering taxi license and Chief Parker stated he had no objection to the granting of such a license. As this might mean oOltpetition for bus patrons at Highway 2, Mr. Ashton was asked to report at next meeting. Mrs. W. K. Mclean, Seoretary of new Library at Fairport Beach, solioits Township grant. See Resolution No.27/60. ()shawa General HosDital requests Township pay indigent loss of Pickering Township residents in their hospital for period Ootober 1 to December 31, 1958, amounting to $292.55. Turned over to, Finance Committee. 2. 3. 4. Our Solicitors advise that the solicitors for A, M. Realty Inve stments Limited asse ssment appeal, now before the Court of Appeal, wish to withdraw such appeal, and that our solicitors recommend that Township permit said withdrawal. Resolution No. 29/60. The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard: 1. Mrs. Jea~ CamDbell, Plan 228, Lot 25, and her solicitor, Thomas Newman, were heard regarding her home being classi:fied as a summer ootta~. Mrs. Campbell stated she had lived in the house all but 4 or 5 weeks o:f 1958, had installed a new furnace, built a ohimney, and house met year-round dwelling requirements exoept for size, in everything except solid foundation, and asked that said house be classified as a year round dwelling. Mr. Cane stated he had learned on good authority that Mrs. Campbe 11 only occupied the house week ends. See Re solution No. 23/60. 2. Mr. Cane reported he had polled the people in the area of proposed Wrecking Yard at Concession 2, Lot 25, and had :found no person who objeoted to a wreckin~ yard at that location. He would not object to a license being .ranted. See Resolution No. 29/60. Mr. Fleury, Solioitor for Welsh Enterprises, said his clients were agreeable to an agreement covering his client's letter, as in (11). CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 16/60 MOVED by Mrc Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Council approve o:f the removal of the curtain wall in the general o:ffice and necessary decorating resulting there,rrom, cost not to exceed $225.00. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 26A/60 MOVED by Mr. Hawthome I seconded by Mr. Spang, that Council approve the purchase of those items listed on Purchase Orders Numbered 373, 372, and 376 - tires, concrete pipe, and gasoline. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 27/60 MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. Ashton, that the Library at Fairport Beach be granted $50.00 for 1960. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 28/60 MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the following grants be made to the various Libraries for 1960: Claremont $ 50.00 Kinsale 50.00 KiR sa}e ~e.oo Brougham 50.00 White vale 50.00 Picke ring ViII. 25.00 CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 29/60 MQVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Spang, that a license be granted to Welsh Enterprises for a Salvage Yard, subject to the opinion of the Township Solicitor on the enforceability by the Town- ship of the terms of an agreement to be drawn up by Welsh Enterprises covering terms set out in their letter of Jan. 7, 1960, plus the condition that said license be not transferable. (Lot 28, Concession 2) CARRIED AGREED Fire Committee meet Thursday, January 14, at 8 p. m. AGREED Council meeting with Planning Board Friday, Jan. 15, at 8 p.m. BY-LAW NUMBER 2469 Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of $600,000.00, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Ashton, moves that By-Law Number 2469 to authorize the borrowing of $600,000.00, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. - 4 ... The Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2469 arise s and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Spang moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2469 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. Mr. Iaycox, seconded by Mr. Deacon, moves that By-Law Number 2470 to authorize the borrowing of money by way of temporary advances pending the issUß and sale of the debenture s authorized by By-Law No. 2434 and 2446, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
