PRESENT: G. T. Todd, in the Chair C. A. Balsdon W. G. Newman W. G. Lawson H. G. Michell L. T. Johnston The following PERSONS on MOTION were heard: 1. Mr. R. B. Wells submitted applications for the digging of a Well ,at proposed Police site: George Beckett, Scarborough Golf Road - $ 8.00 a foot - unfinished, and $ 12.00 a foot completed. H. Hodgson, Uxbridge, . 400.00 for approximately 25 feet complete. Mr. Wells changed his Tender from $ 17,590.00 to $ 17,619.75 at request of Council to eliminate one steel beam and use block and to dæ~rÆe lobby, Police Chief's office, and Sergeant's room. (a) (b) It was moved by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, that Council accept the Tender of R. B; Wells to build the Police Station for . 17,619.75, and that a contract be prepared. CARRIED It was AGREED that Mr. Wells give a contract to Mr. Hodgson to dig a well as per application. 2. Mr. Osterhout, ~oncession ), Lot 27, north, asked if the rear 80 rods of road allowance had been sold and if not, he would purchase. Clerk check and Assessor search at Registry Office. ). Mr. G. H. Snelcer, north end of Fairport Beach, complained that the new provincial road had washed easterly filling the ditches and culverts and covering his lawn with sediment. Council invest- igate. 4. Mr. Bënnett, Plan 492, complained about culverts. MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that G~endale Drive in Plans 489, 492, 521 be declared a built-up area and the Road Department instructed to post the proper signs. CARRIED By-tAW NUMBER 20)6 Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Corporation of the Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of , 68,000.00 upon debentures for school purposes and to repeal By-Law Number 2024, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Michell, moves that By-Law No. 20)6 to authorize the borrowing of $ 68,000.00 upon debentures for school purposes and to repeal By-Law Number 2024, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported. Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that the Report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2036 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and passed; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED ~ - 2 - BY-LAW NUMBER 2037 Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Municipality of the Township of Pickering to raise by way of loan the sum of $ 45,000.00 to be granted to the Ajax-Pickering Township Hospital for capital costs,· and to repeal By-Law No. 2030, and that same new be read a first time. Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, moves that By-Law No. 2037 to raise by way of loan the sum of $ ~5,000.00 to be granted to the Ajax-Pickering Township Hospital for capital costs, and to repeal By- Law No. 2030, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported. Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2037 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Sell of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2038 Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Municipal Corporation of the Township of Pickering to regulate hunting in the Township of Pickering, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, moves that By-Law Number 2038 to regulate hunting in the Township of Pickering, be. now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported. Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, moves that the Report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2038 be adopted, that the said By-Law be now read a third time and PASSED, that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED BY-LAW NUNiER 2039 Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Michell, aoves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Municipality of the Township of Pickering to regulate the keeping of swine in a defined portion of the Township of Pickering, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, moves that By-Law Number 2039 to regulate the keeping of swine in a defined portion of the Township of Pickering be now read a second time and that Council go into Co..ittee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported. Mr. Lawson, secon.ed by Mr. Newman, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2939 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a third time and passed; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2041 (Two Readings) Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the corporatioR of the Township of Pickering to disqualify from voting all electors whose names appear on the -Defaulters' List", and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, moves that By-Law No. 2041 to disqualify from voting all electors whose names appear on the -Defaulters' List·, be now read a second time, and that the Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
